Cause JJ's contract is HUGE, he's known for disappearing in the postseason and he is only 2 years younger than Dirk.

For Dirk and especially Kidd its now or never. Theoretically Mavs can still win championship (or players themselves with other teams), but considering how young Top teams are and getting better, its unlikely.

If Cuban would somehow convince Dwight to come, it would be the new dynasty right there, but thats just a dream for any team fans

Its now or never. This team is way too old to do this again.

The only way the Mavs make another run next year is if we sign chandler and somehow manage to get deron williams or chris paul.

Or if for some reason Howard wants to come to Dallas and we find a way to get younger.

Funny how Lebron is getting hated for joining forces with other stars while at the same time people are saying "Dirk Needs help"

that said.. I agree Dirk needs help.. D Howard imo would be the best help... Dirk can handle the perimeter play and let D Howard own the low post area especially on defense and in the rebounding department

keep a player, like Terry and Butler.. Lose Kidd (even though he has provided some offense in the finals) keep Marion...

Mavs would be right back and even stronger

This is exactly why staying loyal is pointless. What will happen if the Mavs lose? People will say:

"see....told you. you can't win with Dirk."

And if the Mavs do win. People will say:

"yea, thats great and all.....but he only has 1 title....can't compare him to the truly elite"

Its a lose lose situation. The way people rank players here and in the media now its just about production and winning. Thats it. Circumstances are not brought into the equation at all. I never hear anyone outside of this board ever talk about how Duncan's 03 title should be worth a lot more than others. Or Hakeem's 94 title.

All you here is. Shaq has 4. Kobe has 5. Duncan has 4. Magic has 5. Jordan has 6.....etc.

And Dirk really doesn't need more help. If you want to win the title, you have to play great sometimes. Duncan and Hakeem managed to do it. Its possible. Dirk can play better. There is a difference between being blamed...which would be a joke if Dirk is blamed.....but Dirk did not play his best yet. And if you don't play your best, help shouldn't even be brought up.

Jordan wouldn't have 6 titles if just played well. He played great in some of those finals. He played his best. Thats why they won.

You shouldn't win an NBA championship without playing great. Thats what it should take.

So much has changed over the years. You want to be a champion? Play like a ****ing legend.

What's different is Lebron in a different situation and different place probably COULD win without a superstar teammate. He took a pretty weak team to the Finals, just seemed like he quit on Cleveland for whatever reason. I can see him on a lesser team than these Heat and still being a contender every year.

Dirk on the other hand, I think generally speaking he needs the best team money can buy to win a ring, he's more one-dimensional and I think he needs a team surrounded with defensive players or at the very least a team willing to take defense seriously if not great defenders. I do think he "needs" help more than Lebron in the grand scheme.

With a Dwight-Dirk combo, there'd be no excuse for that team losing. Dwight may end up a top-10 or top-15 center all time if not already.

Dallas is playing without their starting SG/SF and their backup Center. What they NEED to do it play some interior defense coughTYSONCHANDLERcough. they only lost by two points, and if they wouldve blocked a shot here and there (or just actually played defense) or sent a guy to the line and hoped he missed a few (which is very possible) the series could be reversed.

all in all, the series if far from over...............unless Dallas loses tonight.

Yet somehow Dirk has now made two finals with the two worst teams to make the Finals in the last 11 years in the Western Conference.

Best team money can buy? LOL

How about giving Dirk the same kind of help that Shaq, Kobe, and Duncan have gotten.

No doubt he'd win multiple titles.

I can't believe people still post garbage like this. Needs the best help? He's never had close to that and he's been close to two championships now.

DAL is fine....DIRK can play like this for 2-3 more years, and even in his twilight hes always going to be a 20-23ppg scorer.

DAL needs to keep both Haywood and Chandler or better yet Keep chandler and draft a young athletic big. Tyson made injury free for the most part, hes had history of missing games so shore up that C position for the future and now.

Eventually I see Caron Butler taking Jason Terrys role as instant offense. As a sixth man with Terry coming in 2nd unit...you got 2 15ppg scorers easily.

Get a PG to learn under Jason Kidd. Hes pretty much said hed be down to do that.

Lots of teams in the league have made the Finals... since 1995, nearly half the franchises in the league have made the Finals.

Lebron could probably win more with less... Hence, Dirk "needing" more talent around him... Lebron is the better player, just like Duncan, and just like Shaq, and Garnett too.

The only two Finals teams Dirk has been on have emphasized defense and had good defensive players (IE. Dirk isn't going to make up for a weak defensive team himself, if anything they make up for his average defense). They wouldn't be there without Dirk but he's going to need a great team to win, greater than the average playoff team IMO.

Think about it, we're talking about a Dwight and Nowitzki pairing. That's arguably the best PF and C in the league (at this time). If that's what it takes to win a title than that says something.

I don't think LeBron gets hated on for wanting help to win but the way he went about it really sucked. No one ever said that LeBron didn't need some help. You do need two great players to win championships. It was just the way that Miami team all came together, the "Decision", the WWE style celebrating and press conference before the season. That's why LeBron gets hated on. If LeBron had just said he's going to Miami without going on ESPN and doing the whole decision thing I doubt anyone would really dislike him so much.
