Forward DeAndre Daniels commits to Connecticut
The Sporting News reports:
One of the longest, oddest recruiting sagas in recent college basketball history ended Tuesday when forward DeAndre Daniels committed to join the Connecticut Huskies for the 2011-12 season.
A 6-7 forward from Woodland Hills, Calif., Daniels had committed to Texas nearly two years ago but withdrew that pledge nearly a year later and decided to spend this past year as a post-graduate at IMG Academy. Because he was eligible to enter college during the 2010-11 school year, he openly discussed enrolling at several colleges at the semester break and spending the rest of the year as a redshirt. He promised to choose a school on the final day of the spring signing period but that day passed without any final decision...
Daniels is an athletic player who can function as either a small forward or a "stretch-4" -- a face up power forward similar to Kentucky's Terrence Jones.
