Default Raptors narrow coaching search to 2

I figure the new coach deserves a thread of his own.

According to the toronto star

http://www.thestar.com/sports/basket...-raptors-coach

the raptors have narrowed their coaching search down to dwayne casey and lawrence frank.
Apparently they are waiting for the Finals to be finished so that they can interview Casey. Looks like BC wants to do this fast. So fast that he has narrowed the search before he has interviewed anyone.

Doesn't matter though. I think these are the 2 most logical choices (and the 2 i was hoping for). Both have an excellent track record, both have experience but are also young.

I wouldn't mind Frank. Don't know much about Casey so I'll hold off judgment on him...

These are the exact two that were leaked as the candidates as soon as Triano was removed. Did they even other searching anywhere else?

I wanted Frank earlier so I'd be good with him. He's a very good coach who had some hori-awful teams to work with. When the Nets beat us in 07 when we had IMO the better team, it was partially due to Frank simply out-coaching us. I'm sure that's why he's on BC's really short list.

I'm just not sure I get handing him another shat team to coach expecting different results. If he's around when this team is good again in a number of years then sure, great move.

Don't know much about Casey but I'd be happy with Frank.

Seems like a no-nonsense, defense-first kind of coach.

Hopefully he's not afraid of Colangelo and will coach the team how he wants to coach it.

Lawrence Frank please, he'll let younger players get the burn they need to get better

they need to sign someone to a 3 or 4 year deal, make sure whoever it is, is in it for the long haul during our rebuilding

frank was my first choice but now i'm kinda leaning towards casey.
he has done such a good job with the dallas d.
they went from one of the worst to one of the best after he was brought in.
he also had a terrible minny team playing pretty decent.

some people say frank is a bit of an ahole.

Casey might be what we need. Yes, Frank has experience but we need to do things one step at a time. And it starts with that damn D.

Casey was good as TWolves coach. Either one I'm fine with.

Frank all the way. Intelligent, no BS coach with a defense-first mentality. I was a huge fan of his in NJ.. it seemed like his X's and O's killed us every game.

Maybe there is someone else in the mix. ESPN-

'Sources: Maurice Cheeks in mix

Lawrence Frank and Dwane Casey are on the Toronto Raptors' list of coaching candidates, but sources say there is a strong third candidate: Oklahoma City Thunder assistant coach Maurice Cheeks.

The Raptors are not expected to make a decision on their coach until GM Bryan Colangelo returns from a scouting trip in Europe. They are also expected to wait until they can interview Mavericks assistant coach Casey, after the NBA Finals.

Cheeks, 54, has a career record of 284-286 as a head coach over six-plus seasons, splitting time between the Portland Trail Blazers and Philadelphia 76ers. He last coached the Sixers in 2008 before joining the Thunder under coach Scottie Brooks.

Cheeks also played 15 seasons, winning a championship with the Sixers in 1983 as their starting point guard.'

I like cheeks too.
I'd be happy with any of the three.

I'm most intrigued by Casey though.
