Default defensive stats you wish are tracked officially

i know Miami Heat already tracks this, but i feel the NBA should recognize this as an official stat to be tracked.

missed shots forced.

defensive players should be credited for shots they forced opponents to miss.

another defensive stat i wished was tracked was the ability of players to stay in front of their man. idk how that could be calculated though. perhaps a +/- differential on the time they guarded a certain player vs the time that player got free from their defense.

another key stat i'm interested in is successful trapping and doubling. which players successfully trap or double teams to force turnovers or a bad possession.

"forced missed shots" are way to opinionated.

Sure, it is obvious if there is a hand in your face.

But what if the player misses because he saw another player running towards him and had to shot it quicker, or the player got spooked by someone screaming in his ear before the release?

deflections. anytime you deflect a pass or a held ball into a steal, out of bounds, block shot, or jump ball or whatever result. its a deflection that disrupts the offense flow of the other team. some team keep this stat for their own and it motivates defenders into getting more deflections thus creating better defenders

Turnovers forced: combination of steals, deflections, traps, defensive pressure, etc.

All that is already tracked by turnovers but i'm guessing you mean they should be tracked individually so we can see the breakdown of the overall turnover numbers.

Flops leading to easy points for the other team.

LeBron would be GOAT for that stat

There should be a defensive PER that accumulates all of the advanced defensive stats. The current PER is just all offense aside from blocks and steals. It can be called DER.

opponent fg%? This is the most straight forward and probably rather easy to track. Measures the shooting percentage ofthe player you're guarding

turnovers just means whoever loss the ball receives a turnover. I think what he means is, when you are the defender and put pressure on the player and causes him to turn the ball over, that goes to the defender for turnover assist?

When a player goes or a block or steal misses it and the opposition score from it kind of like points off turnovers but rather points of steal/block attempts.

As mentioned, the best one would be deflections.

Jump balls forced.

It would really be on offense, but loose balls recovered from teammates. So if a teammate has a pass deflected and his teammate recovers it to prevent the steal. No stat reward for saving your own mistake though.
