I have warmed up to JRich, he would be a great acquisition. We need someone that can stay healthy at the 4/5 that can provide solid minutes. Kurt Thomas, by some miracle, survived the season. It is NOT wise to resign him for anything but the league minimum.
JR Smith would take us from a 62 win team, to a 50 win team. Nobody wants Troy Murphy, because he sucks. Michael Redd belongs overseas. He will never contribute in the NBA again. And VC? Come on, so all of a sudden he WONT be a cancer, after being one for his entire career. Psshhh.
NO CANCERS! NO NO NO NO! We have Boozer's headcase, we can't absorb another one.
I've indicated in the past how much I'd like for us to get Wilson Chandler. After OJ Mayo being my #1 choice... Chandler is at the top of my list. Nick Young is a guy I like, but I think you may be overrating him a bit. He can score with the best of them, but his shot selection leaves much to be desired, he's immature, and he ignores the defensive side of the game. I'd take a chance on him because I feel like he would improve these aspects of the game being surrounded by our roster and our coaching staff, but he's still a risk and I'd consider a few options before him.
Troy Murphy was injured last year. That's why he sucked last year. Before that he's proved time and time again he's a good shooter and a good rebounder. It's not like I have him playing an important role. He'd be 3rd on the PF depth chart behind Boozer and Gibson. But he's a stretch four who can give us rebounding and outside shooting.
Michael Redd is a guy who has had plenty of time to recover and I think he's ready to come back and contribute on a small scale. I'm sure he hasnt forgotten how to shoot. And he would be here to be a 3 point shooting specialist because we'd need more of it.
I've always liked Vince Carter, but he didn't meet my expectations. He's in the later part of his career and I think with the right frame of mind on a contender like our Bulls he can contribute. VC can still play. Its whether or not he'll accept the role we'll give him or if he'll complain if what we want his role to be doesn't match what he wants it to be. The same goes for TMac.
If either one of these guys will accept coming off our bench and being happy with that role i'll gladly take either one of them as the second string SG.
