Ivory Coast might shock Tanzania 2-3 to progress to the next qualifying round.

Australia!!!!!

Now we are a big chance to really compete in the World Cup! We have Tim Cahill, Schwarzer and Kruse! No one can stop us and all our players are better than most Premier league players!

Now you guys know how annoying it is when idiots (mainly USA fans) claim how good there country is because they are beating other scrub teams.

As happy I am that we are in the WC, we played awful and will probably get destroyed in all our group games.

Na we dont look very good in terms of the future.

Kruse is good now and Oar is a good young player but we dont have a whole lot else. Very dissapointing. Hopefully this will boost the popularity of the sport to outside of non-European Australians.

It's strange but you'd think with all the Balkan and European immigrants in the country that some of them will pick up the game? But I guess the same could be said about the US since the team is composed mostly of Americans with no immigrant backgrounds. I do know that the Aussie team a few years back had a shit ton of croat/serb players though.

What will help your NT is the improvement of the A-league. I'm really rooting for the A-league to do well because of the similarity to the MLS. Do you watch the A-league?

I see. You used to have a bunch of good players in Kewell (he was excellent back in the day), Aloisi, Bosnich, Viduka, Emerton, Bresciano, etc... Hope you guys manage to bring up some young talent again.

I watch my home team (The Perth Glory) but its a pretty bad league so its hard to watch. Del Piero was one of the stars of the league in his first season here. An expansion team won ther title in their first season in the league which says a lot about the quality of the other clubs.

Australians love sports but our competitions are all pretty weak because we dont pay our sportsman hardly anything. Del Piero was the highest paid player last season, our highest paid basketballer gets $350 000.

Australian football is the number one sport and is the only real chance for young Australians to become a pro athlete, but even they dont get paid that much. The top player gets just over a million.

Until they start injecting more money into sports over here we will never become good at any team sports. Most of our young guys drop out to go to uni because they know they have very little chance of going anywhere and its a big risk if they pursue it.

The difference is Australia sucks and US is actually good. In the past 4 years we have beaten Spain, Germany and tied Argentina and have been the best CONCACAF team for the past decade. USA finished top of their group in the 2010 world cup which is a higher accomplishment then Australia ever had.

Australia just gets owned by everyone.

Is this a "my **** is bigger than yours" type of argument?

We may be the better squad right now but it's like we are a league ahead of Australia, the gap isn't that big.
