Dirk likes playing for his homeland. And he want's to olympia again. He only didn't play one tournament, and we were horrible. I think he comes back, as far as I "know" Dirk.

Spanish preliminary roster:

Jose Calderon
Ricky Rubio
Victor Sada
Sergio Llull
Juan Carlos Navarro
Rudy Fernandez
Rafa Martinez
Carlos Suarez
Fernando San Emeterio
Alex Mumbru
Victor Claver
Felipe Reyes
Serge Ibaka
Marc Gasol
Pau Gasol

I heard on the radio that Ibaka's naturalization paperwork might not be ready in time, in which case Mirotic would be his replacement.

Also, Mumbrú has retired from the national team.

It's a travesty that Ibaka gets to play for Spain, it really is.

It was about time, same as Garbajosa.

Don't hate the player, hate the game. I'm with you, I don't like naturalized players either, but that's the way things are. The Spain NT would be stupid not to use him if he's eligible.

Suarez and Claver could play some 4. Suarez is more ready to contribute to the NT than Mirotic.

Isn't Mirotic naturalized too?

Mirotic is naturalized too. BUT I consider his a completely different case to Ibaka's, whose naturalization really stinks.

I mean, Mirotic arrived to Spain when he was 15; he's gone to school in Spain, he's grown as a man and as a basketball player in Madrid and, if I'm not wrong, he has even played with the U19 NT.

That said, I think he's not ready to contribute at this level yet. He might be somethig great in the future, but I don't see Scariolo giving him any minutes in this coming Eurobasket. I guess we'll see a lot of Reyes in the PF position, and some Claver too.

If Ibaka is not eligible, things will be something along the lines of:

PF: Reyes/P. Gasol/Claver
C: P.Gasol/M. Gasol

By the way, Suárez can't play the 4. He does have a decent post game, and he's certainly a good rebounder, but he is your archetypal small foward.

He has and can play the 4, it's not ideal, but he can do it. He's 6'8" and fairly strong. Anyway, he won't be seeing minutes there with Pau and Reyes playing a lot of minutes.

I don't know if Pablo Aguilar will get consideration now.

Doesn't matter where from, Ibaka isn't Spanish and shouldn't play for Spain.
