Default Billups for Nash? wtf?

http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/knick...ry7UDIr4 GG4O

There have been renewed whispers the Knicks have inquired about Suns point guard Steve Nash, who lives in SoHo in the offseason. The Knicks have talked internally about trading Chauncey Billups for Nash as both have expiring contracts.

If the Knicks can somehow pull this off they're genius's, and it would completely change the Knicks to contenders. Why the Sun's do this i have no idea, but what exactly do the Knicks have to sweeten this deal?

Nash running pg with Melo and Amare would be sick Billups sux.

lol the suns would NEVER do this, billups is garbage now.

nash is very valuable to the suns organization, and people absolutely love him there.

I'm not sure exactly what Nash wants, but I do know what he wants will ultimately be the key here. But from an organization standpoint, there is absolutely no benefit for the Suns in this trade; both from a financial standpoint as well as a fandom standpoint.

Nash and Amare pick and roll

Nash >>>>>>>>> Billups

And we don't lose anything on the defensive end because Chauncey is equally bad.

This.

Billups for Nash will send Suns fans away for a long time. The time will come to make a move, but they'll get back some value for him. Not just a swap of expirers.

The problem is with this... Is this team any better than:

Nash
Johnson
Richardson
Marion
Stoudemire

Or any of the other 6 or so really good PHX lineups that couldn't get it done with Barbosa, Diaw, Bell, Thomas, etc..

Yes Carmelo is better than Marion, but the supporting cast is no where close. The team will be able to score, but that's it. The East is weaker than the West was then, but I really think the team should go pretty much all defense oriented players to put around Anthony and Stoudemire.

Obviously you do it if it is straight up, but maybe it would be more wise to deal Billups elsewhere if they can sign Nash the following year? I imagine the trade would be Billups + Fields + pick for Nash.

Billups + Fields + Douglas for Nash + Childress

This is the only way I see Suns doing this. Acquire 2 young players and unload a bad contract. NY says no to trading 2 of their young players away though. They might accept Billups + Fields for Nash + Childress, doubt suns bite on that one though.

LOL

Billups may have lost some steps. He still is a better defender now than Nash has ever been.

I see no gain for the Suns in this deal. And the Knicks still wouldn't win shit because they have no defense because of their moronic head coach.

We probably still wouldnt do it until we know about the CBA situation.

If the new salary cap in place makes it that we have no chance to sign Chris Paul or Deron Williams, we'll probably look at that deal.

Suns should do it as a favor to Steve Nash. Let him end his career trying to win a ring instead of wasting away in the desert.

It doesn't matter if they get Nash. When Nash and Amare were in Phoenix with D'Antoni they could't even make it to the Finals and they had some better overall teams than what New York would have. You're not making it to the Finals with D'Antoni as the coach.

If the Knicks can hold on the Fields, i think he'll flourish with Nash to be something special.
