"Still, the Nets recently called Chicago to inquire about P.J. Brown, who has been upset with his lack of playing time lately. The phone call was short, however, because the Bulls weren't interested in taking back what the Nets had to offer (Jason Collins, Jeff McInnis)." Newark Star-Ledger
"(The Nets) have also made inquiries about Pau Gasol of Memphis -- who is untouchable until they make an ownership deal -- and Rashard Lewis of Seattle, who would be a risky acquisition because he could opt out of his contract in June." Newark Star-Ledger
"The Nets have been fairly active in pursuit of their own deals, but all signs are they're coming up empty for three reasons: Richard Jefferson's condition makes him untradable, the rookie salary ($1.1 million) pulled down by Marcus Williams -- who everyone has their eye on -- doesn't exactly bring much back in trade, and luxury tax considerations."
So it looks like they're trying to get some new players but what I find hard to believe is that RJ is even mentioned in any trades...
i don't see how they can make many significant trades at this point without doing something foolish and regretable.
other than williams, i doubt other teams have real interest in the nets bench players.
of the starters, collins is almost certainly a throw-in player. kidd has done too much for the nets to trade and besides he'd be a gamble for other teams because of his age. RJ and krstic still have upside so you prolly couldn't get full value for them. sure you could trade them, but there's a big chance you'd regret it later on. and krstic is underpaid which would also make it hard to get equal value.
what does that leave? carter and picks i guess. are teams going to want carter knowing he can opt out soon? maybe someone who wants to free up space, meaning you'd prolly get some big name players in return who have been disappointing for one reason or another.
so in conclusion, boys, i'm not seeing any rabbits emerging from any hats soon. then again, thorn is a pretty-good magician so who knows...
The only real significant trade would be if we traded one of the big four. The only one of those that the Nets might be open to trading is Carter, just for the pure fact that there's speculation there he might not re-sign with us.
with Krstic taken out (that injury looks bad, and from an initial diagnosis, it seems the best case scenario would be a Lamar Odom like injury which will keep him out from several weeks), the Nets will need to shore up their frontline.
Whats a Trade you guys would like to see if we got traded Carter and others or just Carter?
Maybe it's just me but, I'm not so high on Gasol. I know he is a very good player but, I don't see him as a superstar. I will not go into my definition of a superstar again. But I beleive Carter is more of a superstar than Gasol. If we trade Carter I want to see a name like Garnett in the mix. We do not need to be giving away Carter along with numorous players. It is the other teams that needs to cater to us.
Rashard Lewis' trade value is shot. any chance on getting him for next season?
I'd love it if the Nets made a move for Rashard Lewis. He's got a solid all around game, got great range, and he's in the prime of his career. He can be a bit soft though. He's out for 8 weeks, but he may opt out of his contract after the year so I wouldn't be surprised if Thorn take a look at him in the offseason. Maybe the Nets could get Danny Fortson cheap. He's a big body 6'8 260, he can rebound. They need to beef up that frontline.
