Default Kobe Bryant: the unique ability to play through pain

Kobe Bryant has experimental surgery on knee in Germany

The NBA season is over and the NBA lockout is underway, but that hasn’t stopped arguably the best player in the league from trying to get back to form as he looks for ways to keep his body in good condition for the seasons ahead. There is no question that Kobe Bryant has been one of the most banged up superstars in the NBA over the past few years, but with the unique ability to play through pain the Black Mamba hasn’t missed much time.

Despite not missing much time on the floor for the Los Angeles Lakers, the five-time NBA champion has taken a beating on his aging body and now it may have finally caught up with him as his knees just aren’t what they used to be. With that being said, the two-time NBA Finals MVP has decided to look outside the US to see if there is any way to get his knees back into game shape and ready for the grueling NBA season.

Fortunately, the NBA superstar has been able to find a remedy in Germany of all places by undergoing an experimental procedure call platelet-rich plasma therapy. This procedure is becoming more and more popular with professional athletes in this country and around the world with big-names like superstar golfer Tiger Woods, Philadelphia Phillies pitching ace Cliff Lee and New York Giants defensive tackle Chris Canty having gone through the same procedure.

Hopefully, for the sake the Lakers and the Bryant’s future in the NBA, the procedure is successful and something can rejuvenate the NBA superstar’s career. With three to five years or so left playing at a high level in the NBA, Kobe Bryant will need all the help he can get in order to continue playing at a championship level.

Kobe is a true warrior (of basketball). It's incredible that he played all 82 games considering how injured he was.

Or maybe he just promotes his injuries more than other players.

it is possible. He may have been faking that knee surgery in 06 and missing all those dunks on purpose.

I guess when he blocked Deron Williams dunk with 1 minute left in the fouth quarter of a close game fresh off knee surgery and after missing several dunks it was just a setup for the fans.

truthfully, that play sums up Kobe Bryant's career. Just going for it and not fearing failure. With his knee in that condition there is a huge chance that he gets mashed HARD. He didnt go up for the foul or back away...he went for it! Not many other superstars would ever do that.

Kobe's been a martyr since i can remember. I bet we watched the same Mel Gibson movies as kids. Lethal Weapon 3 when Riggs almost dies. It must have been hard for Kobe, as it was for me, when Mel Gibson was exposed as such a racist.

well no, you see he clearly tells his publicist behind the scenes to talk about the injuries so that when the press asks him he can be all like "I'm fine I don't want to talk about that."

But for example, Lebron talks about how humble he knows he is, and Iverson says heart like eighty times in an interview and that's totally ok and legit.

Everybody's playing through pain at the end of the season. No one is fresh after 82 NBA games + grueling every day training.

A counter example is pau, all you have to do is say the word injury and hes off to the races talking about all the problems he has. Not that thers somethign wrong with that, just kobe doesnt do it.

It's not the players fault the reporters keep asking those questions even though they dont wanna answer.. Look at Finals Wade this year.. They kept asking and he was clearly annoyed by it.
