and btw, SAS was trying to set Kobe up with cocky comments. He went as far as saying "Kobe Im gonna make a cocky argement for you and say you can score on anyone" when Kobe was saying that his main worry is how his teamates are doing, and not rly worried about himself. so this whole arrogance thing was non existent

It is not arrogant to interpret someone's words in the absence of context. It may be premature (as it perhaps was here), but it's not arrogant. In fact, you can look up the word "arrogant" in the dictionary if you're unsure about this. ;)

He did not say that it would be easy to score 50. He said it would be easy to score 50, lose the game and say he did his part.

You better check the dictionary on the word arrogant yourself. It is certainly arrogant of you to assume you understood the meaning of the statement without any context.

Ah, so it specifically pertained to game 7 last year? That makes a bit more sense, then. Still, it's clear that he's trying to explain away his no-show in the second half of that game, and I personally will have none of it. He didn't need to score 20+ in the second half for me to consider it a sucess for him, but he needed to do something -- anything -- other than stand around the 3-point line and waft casual passes around the horn. No crashing the boards for putbacks, no defensive intensity on Phoenix's primary ballhandlers, no off-the-ball movement at all to keep the defense honest and create openings for other players, no drive and kicks etc.

He can try to explain his performance away, and many will buy it. But not me.

SAS offers Kobe his seat, then says, "You can sit in my seat and host the show. SHAQ DID IT!!"

Then Kobe responds, "Nah, nah. Then we have to get into a competition about who hosted the show better. I don't need that."

And, once again, you make judgment without knowing the context or understanding what was said. He did not say it would be easy to score 50. He said that it would be easy to score 50, lose and say he did his part. In other words, he was saying that would have been the easy way out. Just so that it is clear to you, he did not say that scoring 50 points would be easy.

This was an enjoyable show. Good conversation by both guests Bryant and Ewing.

It didnt seem like Ewing enjoyed the Seattle situation.

As you were.

This has nothing to do with the post of mine that you quoted, which was related to the actual context of Kobe's quote (re: game 7 vs. Phoenix). I was just noting that it seemed like he was trying to explain away his no-show in the second half of game 7.

ON LAMAR ODOM: said that he has a bigger responsibilty than himself [kobe]. He is the cataylst, adjusts himself defensively against matchups and provides everything..rebounding, assists, setting up the triangle

Definition of a leader: Not worrying so much about yourself but how your teamates are doing and being able to help them maximize their talents

Kobe said that it would be taking the easy way out to score 50 points, lose the game, and then say that he had done his part. He followed that up by saying that is not what he is about, he just wants to win. He actually said it twice.

And I understand that, and conceded that it was premature of me to interpret it in the absence of clarifying context. I also noted that given Kobe's history of such remarks, it was not entirely unfounded for me to make that leap.
