In all fairness, if you're stupid enough to pay 60 bucks for a game, then buy the 3-4 $15 DLC EVERY time it comes out, and then a new game from the same company comes out 12 months later, which is pretty much the exact same....and you fall for this over and over. You Kind of deserve it.

In no way shape or form is ANY game franchise good enough to keep spewing the same crap out every year. Not Mario, Not Zelda, Not NFS , Not Gears, Not even mass effect.

You're basically investing anywhere from 75-100+ for that game EVERY YEAR.

Isn't this going to affect tons of video game rentals? Gamefly anyone?

Hopefully xbox doesn't follow.

Developers are doing this because they're losing money from used games right? Fine then, make the change so you don't lose money, and then gradually bring the price of games down to something reasonable, at least for games that rely heavily on their online modes. There needs to be a trade-off. Pipe dream I know...

I do this all the time. I did it with Batman: Arkham Asylum a while back. I tried doing it with Assassin's Creed 1, but I couldn't pass it in time and ended up just selling it back. Lost $9 on the purchase.

BTW, I can understand why the developers want to do this, but it's kind of fucked up for those of us who don't have $50+ to spend on new games.

I have a stupid question. If we purchase for example cod mw3, fom gamestop. How does IW or whoever makes the game get the money from gamestop and how much money would they get?

Yeah I did that with the first Uncharted game as well as one of the Hitman games. Did them both in 6 days.

If you buy the game NEW, you get a code with the game that gives you free access. If you buy the game USED, or you RENT the game, you will have to buy DLC content, typically for $10, that will give you online access for that game.

Good post. If devs aren't going to support a game for more than one year, it isn't worth my time/money.

Does this mean that I won't be able to play MW2 online?
