The New Orleans Hornets are going to be relocated anyways and I think having a hometown star like Rajon Rondo might make them very attractive to a city like Louisville who's been looking to have a NBA team.

This is the best post I've seen from a Knicks fan all season.

They wouldnt have to sign for the veteran minimum.

When KG & Ray expire, Boston will still own their bird rights. The cap space that is freed up will be enough to sign Dwight Howard. After doing so, they can sign KG & Ray Allen to new contracts pushing them over the salary cap.

However, it all depends on what happens with the new CBA. If they somehow add a "Hard Cap" then there is no chance Boston can do any of this.

My post was directed toward a poster recommending Ray and KG signing to vet minimums so the Celtics can sign BOTH Howard and CP3.

Believe me, I cringe at the thought of Ainge actually pulling that off.

It literally changes the future of the Knicks as well.

Under former () CBA rules we'd have to renounce Bird rights to have enough space to sign Howard (I think). Still, I could easily see Ray (less so KG) coming back for the vet min.

With Ariza, Paul and Pierce though we'd have roughly $40m on the books so unless the cap was at, say, $57m we wouldnt be able to sign Howard to the (former CBA) max.

I do love that scenario, though. It'd be like LA with Payton and Malone all over again

I could see Ray signing for the vet min. or close to it and KG at the mid-level for sure.
