That's the local beat writer. I assume this'll be Bird's last year, he's completed his "3 year plan" mired in mediocrity regime change. After the season Bird steps down, Pritchard steps up. Or the lockout goes really long and that happens sooner than later.
Big moves happenin in Indiana. Helluva lot different feeling around the franchise than when Walsh left.

He was eventually going to get a job, and that Indy job is perfect for him. Great young talent, sprinkled with a couple vets, they are one pf and long range bomber away from being right on the cusp of great things.
Indy will give this guy his just due, perfect place for Pritchard to land.
Hell ****ing no.. he didnt do much for the Pacers, why should we trust him to run the NBA ??
other than trading for Dunleavy and Murphy I thought he did a pretty decent job after the whole Malace at the Palace incident. If RonRon and Jack don't charge into the stands they had a legit shot at a title that year

Walsh did the MurphLeavy trade. It was his parting gift.

Larry has done a great job for the Pacers. When he took over he was stuck with all kinds of bad contracts. He turned J. O'neals contract into Hibbert, Ford and we also picked up other young talent in McRoberts, Rush and Collison, that not even counting George who I think could become our best player. We also got George Hill who is a perfect fit for this team.
Add that to the fact that we are in cap heaven now and can sign some good to great vets in the next 2 years. I just don't think people have any idea what a mess Indiana was when larry took over and I don't know anyone who could have done a better job in that situation.
The 3 year plan was to have and young core and a ton of cap space. We are just a move or two from real contention.
