Default Nazr Mohammed goes on twitter rant over teams firing employees

On day 12 of the NBA Lockout, Thunder Center Nazr Mohammed tweeted his anger towards the owners for not showing loyalty not only to their players, who are uprooted often as they frequently get traded or released, but to team employees who are being fired because of the lockout. Mohammed makes good points in his rants, and offers some perspective on how the lockout is effecting people other than the players and owners

According to Nazr Mohammed on twitter

Quote:
Everybody wants loyalty from the athletes in sports but no one says anything when teams don't show any #Loyalty...

Team trade players and uproot their families. People are losing their jobs bcuz of lockouts. But when a player chooses to sign...

...somewhere else then he's not loyal. Teams r firing people & not renewing contracts becuz of a lockout, that they imposed. Is that loyal?

These people have families & bills too. It's not just about the athletes. The only loyal people in sports are the fans for the most part...

...If u want loyalty then 1st u must show some loyalty. The lockout should be between the athletes and ownership. It's already sad that...

...fans & other entities are going to suffer but loyalty needs to be shown to someone. Firing people who were doing a good job to save...

...money during a lockout u imposed is not cool. #NoLoyalty #ThatIsAll #NBALockout

The only people who make a big deal of a player switching teams are the fans of the previous team. Lebron received hate bc the manner in which he did it. Also his situation was a little different considering the economy of Cleveland.

As far as the employees being laid off, welcome to the business world. The owners and investors are running a business, not a charity.

I've actually said this multiple times. Couldn't agree more Nazr. Players constantly get hated on for leaving teams but teams don't get anything for trading players.

Very interesting perspective. IMO, He's 100% correct, too. Loyalty between players and owners doesn't really exist but fans want to continue to act like it does. Like Nazr said, the fans are the most loyal ones out there so that makes it even more odd. You would think that they would understand. Too bad many of them are close minded fools who only see things one way.

But, on the topic of teams firing employees, yes it's sad but what do you expect to happen? Not only are teams losing money, but there's no basketball going on. How can these people do their jobs? They can't. Why does it make sense to keep them around and keep paying them if your team isn't bringing in any money? It doesn't. Yes the lockout seems like it was brought on by the owners but come on...you can't expect them to keep these people around just because. That's not realistic.

Because we are fans of the teams and not the players?
The nutjobs we see on this forum, the Lebron, Kobe, Wade whatever fans, are just that, nutjobs, and are a minority.

That's why all the sudden we love players that just yesterday we hated, because now they are on our team.

These front office people getting fired didn't do anything wrong, and there is no real excuse for owners not to have money to pay them, since they knew a lockout was coming.

But many teams have been operating in the red for years. You don't keep a business running by continuously employing all staff members in down economy. There is a reason why rightsizing exist.

because of the changes in media..since the last work stoppage....NBA players are a much better job in the public relations dept. than during the 50 game season.

Back then owners fed stories and media ran them about "greedy athletes" and "poor concession workers" who suffer during the lockout..lot of parrot fans listened to and repeated the stuff verbatim.

now there is no middle man between an athlete and the public....he bypasses espn or whomever and goes right to social media with his opinion...

You know, Xsatyr, I'm glad you feel that way........have a seat for a second, will ya?.......

Xsatyr, you know as much as anyone the challenges ISH as been facing in this down economy. So, it hurts for me to say this, but....it might be time for you to....explore other opportunities elsewhere.........listen, with the lockout and all, there's only so many posters ISH needs......how many Jordan/Kobe comparison threads can we make?........I'm afraid we have to let you go.

Listen, don't sob......You're a good poster....you'll land on your feet somewhere in no time.....there's plenty of basketball sites out there.......

OK.....you've got one hour to clear out your sent messages......nothing personal........

That is a weak analogy. If I worked for a company and business was failing then I would understand why they would let me go. Some of you guys have no clue how to run a business.

Still a completely irrelevant and weak analogy. I guess you're out of rebuttals.
