Default Old man rant: What happened to rappers with

Rap voices?

What I mean by that is, back then whether you were dope or not, a rapper for the most part had a distinguishable voice. They had a voice that was different, stood out.

You had cats like Busta, Tone Loc, Cube, Heltah Skeltah, Method Man, MOP, Guru, G Rap, Xzibit etc.etc. Voices that had a presence on the mic, made you take notice.

Today cats have the most normal voices ever. Nothing really stands out for the most part. If you heard them walk into the room nothing would make you do a double take.

Care to explain?

Most of the rappers today have the most normal voices ever. Non authoritative or strong presence.

Is this something they can help? It's their voice for **** sake. You gotta work with what you got. Kendrick has a shitty voice but he overcompensates..

It's the internet age where dudes get famous at the drop of a hat because of self promotion. The most ambitious/ not necessarily the most talented or authoritative voices are running the game

Do you want something different or do you want something authoritative to tickle your submissive tendencies?

Nobody is proving me wrong tho.

I want examples.

I went through some of the rappers out today, and very few of them even come close to some of the names I mentioned. For the most part they all have puny voices that lack mic presence. Most of them are normal sounding dudes that one wouldn't do a double take if you heard them talking at a 7/11.

He's one of the few that actually popped into my head.

Doesn't compare to cats from the 90s, but still better than most dudes today.

Well… at least you tried.

Word. They all wanna sound like the last "hot" f.uckk boy rapper

Its about delivery too. They all dont have passion. Going thru the motions.

I think, in part, is has to do with most rappers being "studio" rappers these days. They don't have to build a fanbase doing live performances, so they lack the emotion and projection in their delivery.

Danny browns voice is annoying as hell. Gunplay has a pretty good rap voice... he sounds like a gangsta preacher.
