Default Does anyone believe Lebron wore out in the NBA finals?

I'm reading this new and non-hateful theory about Lebron's putrid finals performance and one theory that has come up is that Lebron was gassed in the finals.

He averaged about 40 mpg in the regular season

MPG he averaged in each playoff series...

vs. 76ers - 45 mpg
vs. Celtics - 45 mpg
vs. Bulls - 45 mpg
vs. Mavericks - 44 mpg

Not looking like a bad theory.

Does anyone believe this theory? And if so, does this help Lebron's case or make him even worse?

Well this year he has Bosh and Wade for he would have a little more pressure off him, but that is not an excuse for his awful performance

LeBron played more minutes in the '11 playoffs than pretty mu ch anyone in NBA history. I don't think there's any doubt he was tired, but there's also no doubt his passive approach had nothing to do with fatigue. A superstar doesn't just stop trying because he's tired on the game's biggest stage. There were other ****ed up reasons for that, and we'll never know it.

There is some truth to this. I thought Spoelstra should have rested him more early in the games.

The Heat were scared of using thier bench too much.

All EC series were 5 game series so I don't think the minutes matter as much as it indicated.

Now if he had compiled about 20 games at 45 min each before the Finals then perhaps your question might be considered.

Fact is that he played good in Game 1 and showed no sign of fatigue. Another fact is that he stood round the 3-point arc majority of the time he didn't have the ball and when he had the ball he throw it back to a teammate like it was a hot potato.

No excuses for LeBron in this series, he was godawful and pathetic. Even moreso than the 2007 series, at least back then you can say he was too young and had a shitty supporting cast.

Default Re: Does anyone believe Lebron wore out in the NBA finals?

ofcourse it takes a toll on your stamina a bit... but lebron is a freak of nature....

it was just a combination of things.........

1st of all......... why cant people just give credit to the MAVS TEAM defense?? except that triple double in the Finals lebron had... he really didnt have any great game at all by his standards entire season against them............ they seem to defend him better than any team i ever seen.... its NOT the man infront of him.... but the MEN behind thah MAN......

MAVS were able to double-triple team when he was in the post and easily backing his man back and back.... they played excellent zone............ and when he would drive past his defender they would build a WALL infront of him and be taking (flopping) charges.....

so lebron fell in love with the Jumpshot (which after being there most of the playoffs, finally wasnt there either)

meanwhile WADE was FINALLY on fire....

so lebron entrusted himself to much on WADE and mostly facilitated and played defense...... he is no selfish player and just wants to win..........

DESPITE ALL THIS........ THEY COULD HAVE WON ANYWAYS.... IF THEY DIDNT CHOKE UP IN THE 4TH QUARTER (INCLUDING WADE ACTUALLY).............

AND IF DIRK NOWITZKI DIDNT PLAY LIKE THE BEST AND THE MOST CLUTCH PLAYER IN A COUPLE OF DECADES OVER AND OVER AND OVER..... YES I SAID IT.... NONE OF THEM HAD AN ANSWER FOR HIS RIDICILOUS JUMPSHOOTING DISPLAY

one thing some people here dont know or dont want to accept maybe.... is that lebron is not a STRICT SCORER / SHOTJACKER / CHUCKER.............. like lets say KOBE.........

with that i mean........ lebron will always try very hard to not take 20++ shots when he knows he cant hit at least 50% of them.......... players like kobe NEVER give up shooting even when they cant hit a thing...........

he doesnt live by KOBES MOTTO............. "SHOOT UNTIL IT FALLS IN"........

its because lebron is more of a teamplayer & ALLROUND player......... he will make the right plays.............

lebron is one of those players that would LOVE to just sit there and average 10+ assists a game........ with like 10 points a game.... IF THAT MEANT SUCCESS TO THE TEAM............

KOBE IS NOT LIKE THAT..... DIRK IS NOT LIKE THAT......... NO WINGPLAYER IS LIKE THAT.......... ONLY LEBRON.... HE HAS A TRUE POINTGUARDS MINDSET......

SOON AS YOU ACCEPT THAT LEBRONS GAME AND HIS MINDSET........... IS MORE LIKE A MAGIC JOHNSON - OSCAR - PIPPEN - PRIME PENNY HARDAWAY / GRANT HILL.... RATHER THAN JORDAN......... THE EASIER IT WILL GET.........

It was sheer mentality. People preach about him declining, defense, tons of things. LeBron simply wasn't aggressive. He was passive, stood around. Not sure if it was the pressure, tired, whatever. Watching him the finals was insane. He could have tried to drive the ball 15 times like any other game if he wanted to but he didn't. He'd drive and pass it. Stand around while Wade tried to break the D down. Settle for perimeter shots.

He averaged 15 shot attempts a game. In 44 minutes. With only 3.3 FTA attempts. He had a game in witch he played 46 minutes and took 11 shots with only 4 FTA. That's INSANE.

LeBron simply didn't attack enough. My guess would be with everything surrounding the finals he decided to play conservative and it kinda backfired. Didn't want to try and do to much ala Kobe. 'Bron shoulda went down Derrick Rose style and just gunning like son of a bitch.

LeBron minutes played in '10-11 Playoffs: 922
Kobe minutes played in '09-10 Playoffs: 923
Kobe minutes played in '08-09 Playoffs: 940
