Random question and probably asked in the wrong thread but this is the most active so:

how are draft positions determined if there is a lock out?

Thanks y'all ;)

There's been a bit of discussion on this so far.

I read somewhere that teams get grouped into levels of 5 (6 levels) and each of the five teams at each level have the same chance at getting #1. The lowest level (teams who finished in the bottom 5 the previous year) will have the best chance, and then the groups have slightly less chance until you reach the top level, where there is virtually no chance (Miami, Chicago, etc.)

Another thing I heard was that the same lottery percentages will apply, and the order of teams will be a combination of the teams records in the past 3 seasons. The team with the lowest amount of wins in the past 3 years would have the best chance at winning the lottery, and so on, to the team with the most wins.

But then again, both of those could be false, so who knows.

I don't think there's anything in place for that. The scenarios Chamberlain mentioned are possibilities, as are many others, but it hasn't been determined.

The loss of the 200405 season meant that there were no results on which to base the order of the 2005 entry draft. The league settled on a lottery system in which all teams had a weighted chance at the first pick, expected to be Sidney Crosby. The lottery was tilted so teams with fewer playoff appearances over the last three seasons and fewer number one overall picks over the last four seasons had a better chance of landing higher picks.

The complete order was determined by the lottery, and the 2005 draft was conducted in a "snake" style, meaning in even rounds, the draft order was reversed. This system was an attempt to compromise between those who felt all teams should have had an equal chance at the first pick and those who felt only the weaker teams should have been in the running.

That's how they did it in the NHL a few years back, for what its worth.

Man that Don't Care fellow is going to play a "lot of minutes".

I hope he doesnt have a track record of injuries.

What team did he play for last year?

If I were one of those 90% of this forum I'd say that Dont Care is a kickname for Andrea Bargnani... but I can't see him playing PG

I want Kirk Hinrich on the team. Package Barbosa and maybe Amir/Bayless for Hinrich plus fillers.

It'd be nice to have a starting PG that doesn't get absolutely owned on the defensive end of the floor for once.
