So that justifies paying all these employees who basically wont be doing anything? Teams are not allowed to have contact with players. A lot of the people whose contracts were not renewed are trainers and people who deal with the players on a day to day basis. They would basically be paid to do nothing.

It's just posturing by the Lakers, trying to make it look like LAL of all teams is going broke and has to lay off guys equipment managers, while their front office guys making six-figures are being paid.
