Default FIBA officially gives permission to signed NBA players to sign with overseas teams

Important stuff here. Read at least the first few paragraphs:

Looks like you're going to have to change the name of this forum to international basketball or something like that.

This puts pressure back on NBA owners. Not only running the risk of ruining their franchise for the longterm, but now they dont have any leverage by hoping the players badly want to come back and play.

Although spots are limited right now for European teams, a lot of roster spots open up during the season as players get released or injured.

Then you have the Chinese Basketball Association which will do whatever they can to bring in some NBA players to even play for a few months there.

Going overseas is a Godsend for some of these NBA players because they're able to build their marketing brand overseas.

Good. If the NBA wants to deny the players work, they should have every right to sign with another employer.

owners can void the players contracts if they get hurt but if you lose a dude like Deron Williams you are screwed regardless of if you can get out of paying

this should motivate the owners to get the deal done faster IMO
