Default Ranking the NBA's roster situations

Surprised this hasn't been posted, and if it has, my bad. A CBS blogger ranks the league top to bottom in terms of roster desirability. Yes, there's MUCH that will happen in the coming months to change this, but hey, we gotta talk about something.

http://eye-on-basketball.blogs.cbssp...48484/30879011

The criteria is basically you're a GM, pick the team you want to take over. There's a blurb for each team at the link with "assets," "anchors," and "questions." Here are the rankings, worst to first;

30. Pistons
29. Magic
28. Bucks
27. Nets
26. Raptors
25. Bobcats
24. Hornets
23. Suns
22. Nuggets
21. Wizards
20. Kings
19. Cavaliers
18. Timberwolves
17. Celtics
16. Spurs
15. Rockets
14. 76ers
13. Hawks
12. Jazz
11. Warriors
10. Pacers
9. Blazers
8. Mavericks
7. Grizzlies
6. Lakers
5. Clippers
4. Knicks
3. Bulls
2. Thunder
1. Heat

Figure it should generate some good discussion.

yeah, I think a lot of teams are way off. Warriors at 11? really? Blazers and bobcats are too high as well. Bucks seem a little low. Magic and nets are weird, obviously the rating is presuming that howard and deron are gone, but how can you do that? Seems more reasonable to just evaluate the roster as it is currently constructed. every teams roster will look different by next offseason, so why only account for that with those teams?

Lol, the Suns. They should be at or near the bottom.

yeah, they may be a little too high. For the heat fan, you guys are the best roster (according to this writer). You really want to reverse it?

Utah should be higher than GS, Portland, and Indiana. They've added great rookies to their already young and promising roster. They also have some good trade pieces in Big Al, Milsap, and Okur. And Kirilenko's huge contract is off their books.

No one can argue with Detroit being last. Gotta suck being a Piston fan for the next couple of years.

there really isnt much to do with their roster,Wade and Lebron are kind of untouchable, really dont see how the Heat will miss on signing Dalembert, believe Mike Miller has no value, and who wants overrated Bosh along with his big contract

Really, Celtics 17th? Got $30m in expiring contracts, top 5 pg on a reasonable wage, I guess Pierce's contract will look a bit ugly towards the end of it but its nowhere near as bad as the Rashard Lewis & Gilbert Arenas of this world. In terms of questions - Age, size, depth, futures of Jeff Green and Glen Davis - age is either something you live with (likely) or move to change using the expiring contracts whilst everyone is trying to save space for the new cap rules (less likely). Size - fair enough, but I've got hopes for JuJaun Johnson, he's a winner, and then you only need one more servicable big. Depth - obviously an issue when we have 6 guys signed but there's no end of available swingmen who, as long as they accept their role, will be fine as they will likely only be on the court in blowouts or when 2 of Rondo/Allen/Pierce is out there. Futures of Baby/Green - I think there's a fair share of Boston fans who would be fine with neither coming back if it meant we'd have to overpay to keep them. Neither are really worth much more than MLE money and both imo are replaceable - for me, I'd see Green back for $7m a year or less; Baby, I wouldn't pay more than $5m per. And only if he bought into his role properly.

Pretty good but surprised New Jersey is so low and Orlando being 2nd to last but still being a 4th seed shows how good Dwight is. No way Dwight would stay w that roster.
