HOUSTON -- Yao Ming injured his right knee and left in the first quarter of Houston's game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday night.

Yao was leaping for a blocked shot as Chuck Hayes and Tim Thomas hit the floor beneath him. Yao's knee appeared to get caught under Thomas' body and Yao immediately grabbed his knee and screamed in pain.

Trainer Keith Jones left the Rockets' bench to check on Yao and team doctors joined him. Rockets officials brought out a cart, but Yao limped off the floor, with teammate Bonzi Wells helping him.

The Rockets said Yao suffered a bone bruise and would not return to Saturday's game. His status beyond that was uncertain.

Yao is off to the best start of his career, averaging 27 points and nine rebounds. He had topped 30 points in four consecutive games before scoring 22 in Friday's 97-78 victory at San Antonio.

The Rockets were already playing without six-time All-Star Tracy McGrady, who sat out for the seventh straight game with back spasms.

Hmm, sounds kind of serious. What do you think?

The local brodcast is calling it a bone bruise for now, but are taking a pre-cautionary MRI. Also said it might be a hyper-extension. Don't think it is a long term injury

Damn, that sucks for Rocket fans, as well as Kristic's injury for Net's fans. Whatsup with good centers getting injured tonight?

Houston might have just entered the Greg Oden sweepstakes.

Yao + Oden = Twin Towers II

This is horrible news. Lets hope its not too serious. All of a sudden, I dont give a sh!t about the Rockets and their record. All I want is for Yao Ming to be healthy.

We would probably move Frye to center, and Lee to PF, take Jeffries off the pine, and start him at SF. Cato and James would get many more minutes; however, the truth remains that if Curry was gone, the Knicks would get killed in every game

i said this a couple of months ago....this is a blessing in disguise.

he needs the rest man for the playoff run.

this guy hasn't taken a break all year long and this injury will keep him fresh for the playoffs.
