Danny Watkins has lost his job to Kyle DeVan, formerly of the Colts, who was claimed the other day. DeVan was coached by Mudd in Indy.
Joselio Hanson has returned to the Eagles and Lindley was cut. Great move. Hanson was cut since he had 7.6 mil (over 3 years) left on his deal, now he re-signs on a cheap 2 year deal.
Not a fan of Joselio Hansen but I guess he cant hurt.
And thats hilarious the Eagles are going to start a guy who was released. More musical chairs with the OL. Good job Birds. What next? Good thing he is familiar with Mudd.
So the guy who will be protecting Vick's blindside will be a converted left guard??? HMMMM
Big Todd can play RT, it wont be a hard adjustment. He's played tackle before, granted on the left side. Right side wont take him long to get comfortable. Its a move that should have happened awhile ago anyway.
Now the Eagles interior OL? Eh, rookie Center and 2 journeymen guards. Atleast Mathis has some notches on his belt. The rookie and this DeVan character I'm hoping they dont give it up like a freshman female going away for college. She's getting boned early.
I feel your pain on having a weak interior o-line. Last season, we had the worst center in the league starting (Rabach). I feel much better about our oline as a unit aftr this preseason instead of the pieced together POS we dealt with last season.
However, for all the talent the Eagles have and their expectations, it doesn't seem like the meat of the team (front 7 and oline) is anything more than average. I know you have some nice pieces on the DL but the LBs still need to make plays.
Great teams have talented beef on both sides of the ball in the trenches
Our Offensive line sucks ass brehs, admit it, if we don't make some changes soon, it's going to be a long season. Stephen jackson just walking all over the defense on the 1st play is not a good look

Look at that pass 29 secs in, then the very next play, and then the NEXT play. And then the rest of the passing plays in the highlight. Who stands out? Todd ****ing Herremans. Owning Chris Long. Won't get to watch the full game until tomorrow but looks like DeVan was the weak link on the line today, not sure.
Someone reported he tore his pec, but Andy said he doesn't expect it to be a long term issue and that he's probably not going to play next week. Idk what's going on there.
The hope with the Babin/Jenkins signings was that we could get pressure with our front 4 more often and blitz less, leaving other guys in coverage.
Through game 1 that turned out perfect. Babin-2 sacks, Jenkins-1, Cole-1, Tapp-1 and we only blitzed 7 times (17.5%) of passing downs. Washburn already having an effect on the line.

Dline is the best most exciting part of the team right now.... the offense and the secondary should catch up soon, but right now its about the Dline
I cant remember the last D tackle we had that got this much pressure on the Qb... Andy Harmon?
Babin is a much better player under this coach, Tapp too. If we can get the linebacker situation stabilized, this defense will be ferocious.... the dline already is nasty and the secondary is finding itself... Im not sure what the Linebackers are doing, but they need to step it up (Matthews and Fouku)...

^That's interesting. Babin played the least amount of snaps of the starting Dlinemen, even less than Juqua Parker, but had the biggest impact. Led the starters in sacks, QB hits, and "pressure %".
Also, 4 of the Eagles 5 sacks came when they only rushed four guys.
Quote:
Next up are Matt Ryan and the Falcons. Against the blitz last season, Ryan completed 63.7 percent of his passes, averaged 7.63 yards per attempt and threw 13 touchdowns, compared to four interceptions. That translated to a QB rating of 100.2.
Expect them to hold back on the blitz again.
EDIT: Brian Rolle says he's been playing some first team WIL ahead of Fokou in practice.
