Default BS report with Stern

http://espn.go.com/espnradio/play?id=6856992

They're talking lockout obviously, and all the cool issues involving contracts, contraction, and cap stuff.

I'm not a fan of Stern by any means and in general he's a prick but what he's saying seems logically sound and makes sense.

I haven't listened yet, but Stern isn't stupid... he's trained to sound like he's got the right side of the argument and I personally will taking everything he says with a grain of salt.

Some of it. I love the performance contract thing. I pitched an idea based on that awhile ago on here, and got laughed at. but basically I said the players vote on the who the top 10 are, they get paid the most, then the next 15 and they make the second most. then you move on down the lower the rank the lower the pay. That way every one has a say on who gets paid how much. The players vote say every 2 years. But a player gets granted injury clauses.

Like the player automatically gets paid next year's salary and say 15% of it for the life of the contract if his career is over. And if it just changes him like say Brandon Roy. Then Roy makes his 14? million next year, and then the players vote on him again, and see where he ranks. and he gets paid accordingly, and also gets a percentage of the previous deal he signed.

Personally, I think it's a great idea but whatevs.

Scariest thing is that he basically says if it stays the way it is now.... and players don't compromise that owners are all going to become like Donald Sterling. Basically not spend money on players anymore.

Also I love how you can tell Bill gets pissed, when Stern basically lies about showing the players their books, and potentially screwing around with how much money they're losing. Or when they're talking about moving a franchise so that way it's more profitable.

That would be awesome. There should be loyalty bonuses/discretions as well. For example if it's pay for performance... it would be unfair to pay an older guy like Duncan only 1-2 mill a year despite him being a legend in SA. So pay for performance with special exceptions (older players who have stayed with their team for over 10 years).

Exactly. Take some of the stuff from the MLB/NFL CBAs. and it just makes sense.

Ads on teams jerseys is a very bad idea. I would never buy one.

Surprised Stern admitted that the Hornets actually made money, and will make more money next year.

I'm at the 37 minute mark. You? Yea it's funny how Simmons is irritating him. I'm surprised Sterling hasn't hung up yet.
