Maybe it's just me, but I pre-order almost everything I play. Now that is in part because I don't play all that much stuff. Half a dozen games a year at most. But I read all the time previews, reviews, and the such, and more often than not know what I want long before it comes out. And I usually go for preorders where I get some content goodies. It may cost me a little more, but for how often I play, it doesn't bother me.
The games that I can recall buying on impulse, just sifting through the shelves at the store would be, Arkham Asylum, which I had read good stuff about, and had been out for a while, and while I'm not usually a superhero game kind of a guy, I'd gotten enough feedback I figured what the hell. And the first Dead Space, which I scooped up almost exclusively because it was the only game in the entire section that wasn't first person. And I guess you could count the first Uncharted which was the first game I bought when I got my system, which was pretty much a full year old when I got it, and I just remember liking the commercials.
I just have Gears of War 3 and Skyrim on pre-order, that may end up being the only two games I buy this year. Screw MW3 and their "Elite" service, they can suck it. They make so much filthy money, anything that may be involved with this "Elite" service should be included for free. For that, I am boycotting, otherwise it would be a buy. Gears, Mortal Kombat, and Skyrim will keep me more than busy.
Couldn't agree more.
MW3 is in for a rude awakening. Battlefield 3 looks to be more promising and the multiplayer (which comes free) has always been a huge selling point of that franchise.
