Asked yesterday on ESPN Radio in New York if he was in the same quarterbacking tier as reigning league MVP Tom Brady of the Patriots, Manning responded:
"I consider myself in that class, and Tom Brady is a great quarterback, he's a great player. And what you've seen with him is he's gotten better every year, and he started off winning championships, and I think he's a better quarterback now than what he was, in all honesty, when he was winning those championships.
"It's funny, you say, 'Well, he won championships,' ... (but) he's grown up and gotten better every year, and that's what I'm trying to do. I kind of hope these next seven years of my quarterback days are my best."
Last year wasn't Manning's best after leading the NFL in INTs (Brady's career-worst is 14).
"I'm not a 25-interception quarterback, I know that," he said. "That's going to be fixed and it should be a good year."
he's on the verge of hitting that tier. right now i'd say he's at least a tier below the top QB's. the other thing with Eli is he throws a lot of up for grabs balls where they're basically floaters. he got away with it a lot due to having good receivers or Plax. but thats part of the reason why he throws so many int's. i just rarely see that with the top QB's.
this year will be a true test for him without Steve Smith and mostly Nicks as the star receiver.
Eli is pretty good tho.... his main problem is interceptions.. Ive noticed Eli 'chuckin and duckin' sometimes out there.. thats part of the reason his sack total is so low and his interceptions are so high..
He's got a SuperBowl ring and a hell of a paycheck to back it up....nothing wrong with confidence. He's the third best QB in his immediate family and not close to Brady....but what did you expect him to say....."I suck and Brady rules"....pleez. His biggest problem here is that he was caught being confident while Caucasian.....LOL.
