Default Ron Artest guarantees lakers champ in 2012

Ron Artest guarantees Lakers will win 2012 NBA championship
Posted by Inside Hoops

Earlier today, I guaranteed to myself that I would walk across the street and buy two bagels and an iced coffee.

And, I did it.

Some guarantees are easier to fulfill than others.

Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Times blog reports:

Ron Artest guaranteed to ESPN Los Angeles’ Stephen A. Smith in a 40-minute interview Wednesday that the Lakers will again pop the champagne bottles after winning the 2012 NBA title. Assuming there’s a season of course.

“Win it all,” Artest said when asked what will the Lakers do in the 2011-2012 season. “Win the whole thing. That’s a guarantee.”

Artest didn’t sound as confident about guaranteeing that he and his dance partner, Peta Murgatroyd, would win in “Dancing with the Stars,” admitting “that’s going to be a problem.

The Lakers definitely still seem like a title contender. Although they got smoked by the eventual title-winner Dallas Mavericks in last year’s playoffs, on paper the Lakers continue to be as good as anyone out West.

I personally think the lakers will win it all in 2012...How do everybody esle think.

its hard to say simply because the talent is still there, but we don't know how it will work out with our new head coach, mike brown. I think the coaching change was definitely necessary and the correct step towards remaining a contender. I felt that although Phil was a great, he was becoming more predictable as he got older and that other teams started figuring us out a bit more each time they played us.

So I think the coaching will either make us or break us.

I guess we will see but I think the coaching change with new ideas is only going to make us stronger. Phil as great as he was...did stop coaching over time and did become predictable.

Still need that elusive pg. Especially now since we are not in the triangle anymore. In any system other than the triangle, the pg will have a bigger role and be forced to be more a point guard than a spot up shooter. With some tinkering, I think we are right there in the mix though. I think Artest will be utilized better in a new system where he is not subjected to only spot up 3 point shots. Bynum should improve and the rest to Kobe and Pau should help. Kobe will likely need to take a step back bc of his age and to allow the bigs to shine more. But the talent is still there for another run, as long as we can acquire an above average pg. WOuld love a guy like Jarret Jack.

I like RonRon's stance... The Lakers are the most talented team
and just needed more effort / motivation last year.

I was so excited about adding Steve and Matt last year, I thought
our D was going to be spectacular. But something fell apart and
we really sucked during many playoff games.... No one is going to
give it to you.....

I hope getting skunked by the joke Mavericks is enough???? I really
hate losing to that team at any time, but getting swept has left
a bad taste in my mouth, and I hope all Lakers feel the same.

Artest may or may not be committed. He has a short attention span and if the season starts out rocky or he doesn't feel he's valued he'll just go find something else that feels rewarding. That's always been his problem, he's 100% there when the goings good when it's not so good or he doesn't feel appreciated he loses focus. He's not disruptive, he seems to have outgrown that period of his life but his over rated self value of his place on a team like the Lakers can have a detrimental effect. That will be Browns biggest challenge with Artest. Keeping him engaged for the season through the rough patches.

His off the court drama, the fact that he sold his championship ring, and the disease of more. No proof, just has that feeling, The hardest part is not winning a title, but defending a title. After Ron had that big moment, and won a ring, I'm just afraid he just isn't motivated.
