Yes he can be good one on one defender when he tries and moves his feet. However he rarely does this. What he does more though is disappear on defense totally.
His one on one D tbest against slow, traditional, back to the basket C/PF's from what i've seen. I specifically remember him holding his own against Yao Ming as an example. Unfortunately, those players are few and far between in todays league and therefore to guard that position which is becoming explosive and perimeter oriented, you need guys with lateral quickness and good defensive awareness.
