Revis is still the best CB in the game even though he's playing way more zone than he ever has and is coming off an ACL tear. He's the same guy he was before the injury.

I bet he wishes he was still playing for Rex though. He was probably fed up with the shitty offense and the NY media pestering him, but there's no doubt he loved playing for Rex. Jets shouldn't have traded him though. Defense is already ranked 4th without Revis. Imagine them with him...

Isn't what happened a year, two years after the date this thread was made irrelevant? The OP didn't ask who was going to be better two, three, four years from now - he said who's the best, as in who's the best right now (before the 2011 season started)

There's no doubt Revis wanted to be a Jet. He got screwed by the outgoing GM, the Jets said they'd pay him and they decided not to. When he got signed he said it's basically a 2 yr deal and in 2 years they'll redo it, and neither Rex nor the GM (who i'm so sorry i cant remember his name right now) said nothing to the contrary.

Instead of in NY with Rex using him perfectly he's in freaking zones in Tampa with Coach Dickwad.

I bumped this because of the long drawn out debate I had with Philly fans on whether or not Nnamdi was overrated

Him being out of a job just two years after the argument means...I won the argument

As far as the OP goes...it also supports Revis > back then

Nnamdi is terrible. I don't know how he played so well in Oakland. I always thought he was a great player, but then again, he was on the Raiders so maybe nobody ever actually watched him play.

Not surprising that he got cut. He was horrendous in Philly. People loved making excuses for him but it seems he was terrible on the 49ers too. Wouldn't be surprising if he's played his final NFL game.

It's the NFL. Guys can go from great to average or even worse in a span of one or two years when they start getting near 30.

Longevity is a rare thing in the NFL for non QB's

I miss Revis. Just imagine how great the Jets defense would be with him. Arguably the best defensive line in the league along with Revis, Cromartie, Allen, Landry, and Reed in the secondary.

sorry but going from "elite" to unrosterable in 2 years isn't normal at all, its unheard of.

Haynseworth is the only other example and he admittingly quit.

Not only that but Nnamdi had about the softest milage a player can have with the Raiders... He barely even played for 4 years straight... There was no "wear and tear"

Truth is he got overrated playing for a team that never got thrown at because they couldn't stop the run and were always down by 40 at half time.

Shaun Alexander, Priest Holmes, Clinton Portis

It is fairly rare in non-RB's though.

I was referring to prime saying guys don't go from elite to out of the league in 2 years. All 3 of those guys did (not 2 years, but 3 or 4).

Portis: 1500 Yards Rushing in 2008 - out of the league in 2011 (3 years)

Priest Holmes - 1400 Yards, 27 TD's in 2003, never rushed for 1000 yards again and was out of the league in 4 years

Shaun Alexander - 1900 Yards Rushing, 27 TD's in 2005, out of the league in 3 years.

I guess none were two years, but the declines were dramatic.

Yeah those are RBs...again Nnamdi has no "hard miles" on him

Show me a CB that went from all-pro level to "can't make roster" in two years...

Winfield went from a very good player last year to being cut and then retiring this year. He was 36 though.

Anyone remember Trufant? He was an all-pro then a few years later he's a nickle corner. Now he's Asomughas age and he got cut by the Jags.

Randy Moss went from basically a universally accepted top 5 to 3 wideout before the start of the 2010 season (in which he came off 1264 yard/13 TD year) and then in 2010 he did nothing. Didn't even have 400 yards. Came back in 2012 and failed to do much of anything.

lol what? Portis had 5 one thousand yard rushing seasons before '08, would've had 6 if not for injuries. Holmes was good from '98 to 2005. Alexander was good from '01 to '07.

I understand what you're saying, just some awful examples.
