I understand what you're saying, just some awful examples.
I don't think you're understanding what I'm saying. I'm not talking about their entire careers. I'm not saying those were there only elite seasons, I'm saying they went from having an elite season to being out of the league in 3 years.

Portis, Holmes, Alexander were elite RB's for years until they each suffered a dramatic decline, like Aso.

I feel like that happens to a lot of RB's. old age and injuries catch up all of a sudden.

Randy Moss went from basically a universally accepted top 5 to 3 wideout before the start of the 2010 season (in which he came off 1264 yard/13 TD year) and then in 2010 he did nothing. Didn't even have 400 yards. Came back in 2012 and failed to do much of anything.
All of these examples are a far cry from Nnamdis drop...

Neither Winfield or Trufant were considered elite like Nnamdi...Nnamdi was the highest paid defensive player in the entire NFL at one point. You had to ask if we even remember Trufant lol.

Moss played for a long time... and was still rosterable on the Titans and 49ers

Just admit it... there is nothing "normal" about Nnamdis decline...

2012 Pro Bowl CBs...Woodson, Tillman, Carlos Rodgers, Bailey

^^^ all older that year than Nnamdi is now...hell Woodson won DMVP at an older age than Nnamdi is now, where he can't even make a roster.

Trufant was an All-Pro corner, so he was elite at one point.

I never said it was normal, just that it happens. Randy Moss was "only" 33 at that point so the age isn't far off.

Nnamdi was great at one point for a period of time. I don't care who you are or what team you play for, doing what he was doing was incredible. Peyton Manning doesn't go throwing around "he's the best" compliments.....but he called Aso the best corner in the league back in....I want to say 2008 or 2009.

He fell off hard.....doesn't take away from what he was in his prime.

He was overrated..."what he did" was not get thrown at for 4 years... you didn't watch him play much while on the Raiders because the guy was never even on camera

Go look up pass attempts against the Raiders those 4 years...they were DEAD LAST in two of them and bottom 3 the other 2. Simply put, teams avoided throwing AT THE RAIDERS, because they didn't need to.

And WHAT A COINCIDENCE, he declined at the exact same time he went to a team that gets thrown at!!!

He was an over hyped CB that lost a step and became completely worthless because of it.

Trufant made ONE pro bowl ... 2007

He played until 2013...that is six years later

Also it looks like he had a season ending injury in 2011...so he might have just had injury issues

So he was overrated.....yet most of his peers (the guys who play against him) routinely said he was the best or second best corner in the league. You have Peyton Manning calling him the best corner in the league when he never says those type of things. Bill Belichick said Asomugha is "as complete a cornerback as he has seen all year" back in 2008 or 2009.

These people don't make stuff up out of their ass.

first off players and coaches make strong compliments about players all the time, those should be taken with a grain of salt.

Second they are completely capable of being wrong like the rest of us

Third...YEAH they overrated him, that's my point

AT NO POINT WAS NNAMDI EVER BETTER THAN REVIS

Funny thing pt is you were so boosted for the Cowboys to sign him before Philly did.

U included a photoshop w Jerruh and everything. You're just one of these people that has to beat a dead horse when you think your opinion that can be considered contrarian is absolute.

Oh and stop misspelling Carlos Rogers' last name. I kno it's petty but if you are gunna keep using him in this comparison, get his name right at least

I was also guilty of overrating him but I saw the writing on the wall... Obviously as proven with this thread

Also don't get me wrong, I do think he was a "good" CB...just not elite Revis level

I'm not saying he has always been horrible...he has fallen off to some degree

I'm assuming it's a mental thing. Once he lost his mojo, he couldn't get it back. It's like Rick Ankiel "forgetting" how to pitch. Not everyone has the same mental makeup. That, or he was highly overrated on the Raiders.
