Default Mehmet Okur signs with Turkish team, with NBA out-clause

Utah center Mehmet Okur, who played just 13 games last season due to injury, is going to play in Turkey during the NBA lockout.

What do you think of Okur as a player? (Not including last season, obviously.)

And what's your take on how he fits in with the Jazz now and with the future in mind?

Average starting center who if healthy would help any team. He'd be perfect for Miami, NY, and maybe Orlando. On a jazz team with so many big men, he'll probably get traded to a team needing q big man and with his expiring deal he won't be a risk

Before injuries.. Very valuable big man. He is tall and big enough with great shooting ability and very clutch.Good rebounder.

Despite being third option in his team, he had 3 seasons over 17 ppg.

Lots of game winners, clutch plays for a 3rd option.

Pretty sure the Jazz would rather he stayed with the Turkey team.

I sort of lost touch with Memo after his injury plagued season. Historically, he's one of my favorite Pistons of all-time. Memo and Zeljko Rebraca came to Detroit within a season or two of one another, both with a small amount of support and hype. Zelly was largely a disappointment and limited. Memo, however, ended up being awesome.

Even though he did not put up spectacular statistics (playing behind the Wallaces, Corliss Wiliiamson, Elden Campbell, and even Cliff Robinson) Okur still did great and unique things with his minutes. I was sad to see him leave Detroit, but happy to see him achieve such success in Utah. I hope his career continues to be fruitful.

He will be a good mentor for Kanter.
He can help the young turkish guy assimilate in Utah.
This is why the Jazz shouldn't trade him imo.

Jefferson, Millsap, Kanter and Favors are the players who should receive playing time out of the current roster, but maybe it would be a good idea to trade either Millsap or Jefferson for a really good guard, and that way there will be some pt left for old man Okur.
