This should be the year they draft a QB though, just not Luck in the first round.

If Foles is there in the 2nd or 3rd round, they should take him (just like they should have taken Mallett in the 3rd round last year). Even Kirk Cousins in the 3rd or 4th. Just to have a decent backup and maybe someone who could develop into a good starter. (I think Foles will).

I agree, however I think Kellen's going to be a draft steal, since he's probably going anywhere from 3rd-5th round most likely, him and Colt McCoy have a ton of similarities (Colt is only like 6' 0" as well).

I think the Colts should trade Luck for another pick to get Landry Jones or Matt Barkley at a lower spot, while still probably being able to get another 1st round pick in the future and stock piling picks at other weak positions.

Kellen Moore's arm makes Matt Leinart look like Brett Favre.

He has no NFL starter potential. Career back-up at best.

Possible deals I would consider - are they realistic?

Dolphins:

Jake Long
Vontea Davis
4th/5th/6th rounder (one of them, not all three)

Colts:

Luck
6th rounder

49'ers:

Staley (LT)
2nd rounder in '12
1st rounder in '13

Colts:

Luck

Redskins:

Trent Williams
Orakpo

Colts:

Luck
2012 4th rounder

Brandon Marshall went to the Phins for a 2nd rounder. Randy Moss to the Pats for a 4th. Santonio Holmes to the Jets for a 5th (I think). I can only think of WR's with locker room issues that have gotten dealt for a pick.

I don't think other players involved, just draft picks. Getting someone like Orapko or Long is extremely unlikely to me.

Current 1st, future 1st, current 2nd, current 4th, future 4th/5th for Luck, and that still seems like it might be a lot to me. I'm not really sure though. I honestly don't know what the trade would be like if it went down.

I wouldn't want any part of a trade that had to do with future draft picks as the base of the trade. Not interested in those players developing and hitting their prime, because by then Peyton will soon be done.

If we couldn't get an established, talented guy(s) at a position of need, I don't think I'd want to trade the pick.

Pretty sure the Dolphins would laugh at that and hang up. SF, I could see it just because of Harbaugh.

Its a tricky situation though. Pretty much exactly what irondarts alluded too. All depends on Manning's health imo.

@Miami and Wash trade proposals. Neither team would answer the phone.

Manning's healthy you ransom the pick and take a QB in the 2nd/3rd. He's not you obviously take Luck and YOU HAVE TO CUT/TRADE MANNING. That big massive new contract has a one year out where they'd have no cap hit. You keep him and he can't play, congratulations, you have 10s of millions of dead cap. Simply unaffordable and that's the reality. I'd legitimately probably shed a tear, but that's the best business decision.

The talk of him maybe playing this year if he can get back has some people confused if Indy's 1-10 or something awful. Why take the risk right? Because you have to find out if he can play.

Now, I firmly believe Manning will be good to go in 2012. At what level I have no idea, but ready to play. Since I think he'll be healthy that means he'll have 4 or so years left in him. So trade the pick and load up for those couple years and take the pressure somewhat so squarely off Manning's shoulders. As far as players coming in, I honestly have no idea what'd be feasible. But I'd take no less than a 2012 1st and 2nd and a 2013 1st, with maybe 1 or 2 mid rounders in there somewhere, maybe more depending where the offer's coming from. Luck is so hyped if a team wants to trade him someone will basically pay ANY price.

Since I think he'll be healthy, I would absolutely 100% trade the pick and draft more OL help, a true NT, a playmaking S, a shutdown (as much as they can get in today's league) CB, players like that.

If they get the #1, they should trade down for lots of picks, and stack up on big defensive players. Their defense has always been undersized, and this could be a great way to get some big guys up front.

Staley is an average starter at best. Niners would do that trade in a heartbeat even if Alex Smith had a good year lol.
