prime Bruce Bowen, a superior defender to Kidd in every way, couldn't stop Nash from getting his. Nash is an all time elite shooter (as in top 5 ever, by percentages, IN HISTORY OF THE LEAGUE. think about that for a second. he isn't top 5 in 2009 or something, but top five EVER) who can penetrate and finish with both hands around the rim. He's had playoff games (you know, when the defensive intensity is upped to the max) where he CARRIED his team offensively and taken over 4th quarter scoring.

I'm not saying Nash is the better player, but Kidd CANNOT guard Nash one on one. in one on one basketball, elite offense cannot be stopped.

MJ torches Miller with 6 rings and 5 MVPs!

No one plays offense one on one in the NBA so your point is moot.

Nash doesn't try to score more, but you get the sense he definitely could. I mean it's not ridiculous to see him averaging 24 a night or something, but Kidd? no. they were not close offensively. Kidd is a spot up shooter who scores in transition. He isn't gonna break down his man one on one and hit a shot, at least not consistently with the game on the line like Nash has done in the playoffs. There is a significant gap in offense.

the no rings argument is so tired and lame. i'm guessing Lebron is useless because he has no rings? and if we lived in March 1991, Jordan was relatively useless too since he hadn't done nothing then right?

All I'm saying is Kidd wouldn't stop Nash from getting his usual numbers. That's all. If you're in the camp who thinks Kidd would "lock Nash down" and force him into a 14 point on 43% shooting series, then let's just end the discussion because it's pointless.

Bruce Bowen is playing out of position...Nash is supposed to do him. Bowen could not guard point guards better than prime Kidd.

Percentages mean shit compared to WINS. Nash's style doesn't win because it's TOO predicated on shooting percentages without enough emphasis on defense.

You are proving my point. Nash's Suns had one of if not THE most potent offenses in league history but they still couldn't win spit.

THEY HAD DIRK AND NASH (IN DALLAS).

LAYUPS/DUNKS>JUMPSHOTS

DEFENSE>OFFENSE

Dennis Johnson/Gary Payton/Jason Kidd>>>Steve Nash

When you talk about all time greats you have to use something to distinguish them. You stated that Nash is top five this and that and lauded the merits of offense but still haven't answered as to why the Suns potent O, Run TMC, or the great Portland teams never won anything.

And all I'm saying is that while Nash might get his regular numbers prime Kidd might have dropped 30 14 and 14 on Nash.

-Remember who was Kidd's under study at first in Dallas.
-Remember who lead a team of scrubs and Kenyon Martin to 2 NBA Finals
-Remember who was the REAL leader of the 2011 Mavs
-Remember who they brought in to make sure Team USA got back on track
-Remember Kidd shits on Nash in EVERY CATEGORY EXCEPT SHOOTING (and passing, but prime Kidd was a better passer).

I haven't watched the game either but Reggie was pretty decent at drawing fouls. It may be the only underrated part of his game.

Its not that he was a great one on one player but defenders played him too tightly for his shot and Reggie would gain a step on them and get them off balance since defenders had to fight through so many screens. He also got fouled on his shot a lot since he was crafty with those pump and head fakes. If the defender bites even a little bit, he could drive.

He was a notorious flopper too who'd go flailing after getting hit in the paint. Some of those IND/NYK series are classic examples of his ability to draw fouls.

Yeah I remember... I also remember that sweeping leg kick he used to do to draw fouls. I thought that was such a b*tch move...all that flailing and kicking to get a call. But it worked more times than not.

lol dude was destroyed by freaking Reggie Miller and you got clowns up in here acting like he has a case for GOAT defender and would have no trouble shutting down guys like prime Kobe/LeBron/Wade etc. They'd all torch his ass, just as Miller does here.
