Default Raptors Hire Gheradini

After weeks of speculation now that the Italian league finished yesterday the Raps have hired Maurizio Gheradini as Asst. GM:

Here's the link:

http://www.nba.com/raptors/news/pres...se_062206.html

I don't know much about this guy can anyone shed light on how good he is? What he's done? Is he a good fit for the Raps?

Thanks for all info in advance

I completely agree.

I guess this also means that they think he can play center.

Bargnani has size, isn't he 7'1"/250? the problem is that he doesn't play like a center at all. Take Villa for example, 6'11" and 245 is more than big enough to handle many NBA centers, but Charlie is just not capable of playing that position. I'm not sure what will happen with Andrea, maybe we'll start him at PF and put Bosh back at Center like his rookie year

If we draft Bargnani, he'll come off the bench. He aint ready yet.

I doubt that they will start Bargnani..they probably go with Rasho and bring him of the bench for his first season as a Bosh or Villy replacement and see how he does...let him bulk up for a year.

Wow, I'm excited as an NBA fan. It seems Bryan Colangelo is wasting no time and bringing in the pieces that will make the Raptors franchise successful once again.

I would think Bargnani is a lock now. I'd put money on Bosh at Center, but maybe Mike James will be do a sign and trade deal to get them a more dependable center and bring Bargnani off the bench. Remember we are talking about Bryan Colangelo. Expect BIG changes!

Andrea Bargnani, Chris Bosh and Charlie Villaneuva are the future. The best tandem of young big men in the NBA.

If they play him at Centre he'll turn out to be a Mehmet Okur type I think maybe better

Andrea Bargnani isn't worth the #1 pick.

We should trade down

I don't see how BC could do "bigger things" than going down to 3 to get brevin knight.

Fills the PG hole, but not long-term but still a great plug, and get the player he wants at a lower spot where he costs less and is under less scrutiny.

This would seem to confirm that whether they trade the pick or not, they're going to draft Andrea Bargnani. I don't think he's worth the #1 pick either. We should trade down, and try to pick a PG in the trade.
