Reminder for beginners: Only a select handful of teams in Europe are in Euroleague

Seriously.......what in the hell is up with this? This forum is flooded with people that refer to every player, team, league in Europe as "Euroleague". Even though there is only one Euroleague in Europe.

The forum continues to be flooded on a daily basis with posts like, "Adam Morrison beasts in Euroleague", "Deron Williams is playing in Euroleague", etc.

To NBA fans here no matter what, it is "Euroleague". Any league, any level, any player, any team in all of Europe is "Euroleague".

Second division Belgian club = "Euroleague".

Austrian League = "Euroleague"

Junior youth squad players = "Euroleague players"


NBA and/or American players that have never in their entire lives ever played a Euroleague game = "Euroleague superstars"


Now, myself, chains5000, jan95, madmax...........I have personally seen all of us explain, dozens of times here, to these same people that this is NOT the Euroleague that they are referring to.

Dozens of times, numerous people have explained for example, that Deron Williams, Tony Parker, Adam Morrison, etc. (numerous such examples) do not play in the Euroleague and it is wrong to keep referring to them as "Euroleague players".

Yet, this goes on. Preseason friendly domestic league games, are referred to as "Euroleague games". Stats from leagues that have nothing to do with the Euroleague are touted here as "Euroleague stats".......Grinder is by far the most egregious troll in this regard, with his antics and agenda.

What the freaking hell? Why in the world is it so damn hard for NBA only fans to grasp what the Euroleague actually is, and why are they seemingly incapable of grasping that these players do not play in the Euroleague?


Are you capable of knowing the difference between NBA/NCAA/D-League? Well then, why the hell can you not understand the difference between the actual Euroleague and other leagues in Europe?

Is it really so hard to comprehend this? Seriously, is it really that freaking to hard to grasp?

News flash geniuses, the Euroleague season has not even started yet, and despite this, you are claiming here on a daily basis, that Euroleague games are already being played. Are you guys just straight out retarded or what?

Of the best players at each position in the NBA, ONE is european. Doesn't exactly help your argument that Europeans>Americans at basketball. Plus, besides Dirk, how many European players in the NBA are all-stars?

I am actually OK with the premise of the thread.

Most basketball fans are aware of what the Euroleague is, but some are not.

Of course, it's a shame that Euroleague feels a need to present this information in such a combative fashion, but still, it's a useful thread.

Is it possible to have an stickied Euroleague thread here? Just one for all Euroleague threads could be great and that way 90% of the first page would still be NBA related.
Somebody moderating it would be needed though...

Euro League is a competitive basketball league. It's the second best basketball competition in the world. But it's totally different from the NBA. Defense is taken more seriously, i'd say it's more rough, coaches don't allow showing off as much in the NBA etc.

As for players playing well in both leagues, it's all mater of just how good that player is. For example, Artis Gilmore and Bob McAdoo, two proven legends even in their late 30's dominated their respective competition in Europe.

However, the likes of Dirk and Gasol have made phenomenal careers in the NBA despite being miles away in athleticism and stuff.
