When Daniel Craig got this gig, a lot of the speculation going around was that it was gonna be Clive Owen, who I felt would've been interesting. He would've given it a different dynamic. A little more playfull, a little less stoic. But it would've been interesting.

A couple of the Craig Bond movies, including Skyfall, have been atrocious, but through no fault of his own IMO and still clearly a huge step up from the Brosnan Bond era.

Casino Royale and Skyfall are two of my favorite Bond movies (Royale is my all time favorite). But I did thoroughly dislike QoS.

Skyfall was so dumb on many levels but primarily on these in particular
  1. The old lady dies anyways so Bond fails
  2. The old lady is the head of MI6 and yet only 007 is assigned to protect her, why not use british special forces?
  3. If you walk around in the dark with flashlights while someone is trying to kill you, you deserve to die

The movie was beyond stupid!

^ Was Bond assigned to protect her? I thought he just took over driving the car she was in and drove her away from MI6.

I'm fine with Bond having a failure, but I do agree the flashlight thing was stupid. Still, not enough to ruin the movie for me, and most Bond movies have had more stupid moments than that.

Just watched it, not really a big fan of this one. I don't mind Craig's bond really, in fact I think he makes the current Bond movies better than they should be.

I get that they rebooted the franchise with Casino Royale, but come on still no gadgets? And stuff like that, which separates Bond from being another action movie. It feels more like a Bourne movie than a Bond movie IMO.

1) Yeah it kind of makes it pointless storyline-wise for M to die, having said that at nearly 80 years old I assume she wanted to retire from the role so this was the way to do it.

2) Bond wasn't formally assigned to protect her, he took that on himself and M trusted only him.

3) True, given this is an INTELLIGENCE agency the agency head giving away their position like that was incredibly amateur.

I do think this film had almost a 'Connery Bond' vibe to it, as in it seems like the kind of film Connery would have done back in the day.
