I personally think he has a higher ceiling than Andre Miller. 22 ppg, amd 9 apg in his best statistical season.
You are overrating Knight big time. He will never look all that good running the point. I fully expect him to be a fixture on bad teams his whole career.
Always been a fan of this guy. I wanted the Raps to pick him over Valanciunas on draft night but hopefully the Raps made the right decision. He's having a solid rookie campaign right now and hasn't even scratched the surface of his potential. I can see him being a 18/8 player in his prime
I think he works best with a combo guard in the backcourt with him. I think Kemba would have been a perfect partner for him. Short at the 2 but Brandon is big at the 1 so they'd be fine.
But Stuckey is even bigger, 6'5, and he's a true combo guard. Knight can play very good defense, so the two of them should be very good. I always thought it was a bit strange for them to have kept Stuckey (obviously the same with Prince), but those two can be very good together. And if Gordon gets his shit together (might get amnestied) then he's a perfect 6th man for them. Prince is the same Prince and Monroe is great. A guy like Drummond, if he develops, is perfect.
I'd amnesty Villaneuva because he doesn't have much value and Gordon could always add something, as he hasn't deteriorated in anything other than desire since he's been on a bad team. They can be very good next year. But Drummond, even if overhyped, can play strong defense at the center and face up at the PF position. A perfect compliment to Monroe.
The team has very good depth and I honestly believe they're poised to make a big jump next season and make the playoffs.
Lastly, the other thing they can do is try and trade Gordon and stuff for Monta. I think he could do very well with Knight. If Detroit was able to pull a guy in free agency (if they took a shot at McGee) then the 1st round pick would mean less and maybe they could trade that...don't know. Probably not worth it but I could see Monta going to all-star games every year if he was in the backcourt with Knight.
