WOW

Manning has been extremely durable for his career and all the great ones miss a year. Manning is a workhorse there is no doubt in my mind he can play into his early 40's and pull out a Favre. The great thing about him is that his skillset never relied on athletiscm or any skill that can regress with age. He's probably the smartest QB to ever play, he's practically a coach in the field and that alone will make him a good QB for the next 5 years. The Colts need to make an emphasize of protecting him and stocking up on some O-linemen.

Not true, every QB needs a good arm and they all lose it eventually.

As good as Peyton has an average arm he'll still be a good QB and I really don't think that regresses..

I would have no clue, I dont think that anyone would trade for him. He just injured his neck and you would have to have a great line to protect him at all costs.

If Chad Pennington's arm was good enough to win games, then I think Peyton will be fine.

You have to remember that for most fans, there are only RB, WR and QB on the field. That's all you need!

I tend to fall somewhere in between the "wouldn't give anything" and the "ransom our future" camps.

Neck injuries are serious business, and Manning is a smart guy who isn't going to endanger his future for another year or two. His age is a factor. Yes, Warner played well late into his 30's, but very few have. Remember that Warner had far less wear and tear than most his age due to his late start and a couple years of relative inactivity mid-career.

The team that would trade for Manning, and for whom he'd agree to play, would have to be on the cusp of a championship. How many teams like that don't have what they consider a franchise QB already under hefty contract?

You don't need a great line for him. He'll make your shitty line look great though.

Would absolutely depend on how he is coming back. At this point it's too much of a gamble because the price would be extremely high.

yeah, it isn't like the Colts are trading away thier HOF living legend icon for a 2nd rounder...

and I seriously can't see any team doing what the Raiders did for Palmer...

he isn't getting traded...that just isn't happening

right now, he has zero trade value. If he comes back and takes a hit and gets up like nothing is wrong, he def can fetch 2 1st rounders or at least a 1st and 2nd.

I really hope Manning comes back, dude has been a warrior and seems like a good guy. If it comes out he is a total prick then I don't care.

Comparing it to Palmer is different. his owner already said he won't deal him unless he got 2 1sts, and was willing to let that go the distance. Then Oakland's Campbell broke collarbone and boom, Oakland jumps on it. If not for Campbell getting hurt, Carson is still sitting in his SoCal house and tailgating at USC games like a normal 6'3" millionaire.

Do what Green Bay did, let the rookie learn from a legend, then when he hits 39 trade him to somewhere obscure like the Jets at the time and hope he doesn't get traded to a division rival soon after.
