Not bad defenders at all, but not as versatile - overall efficient - impactful defenders as Lebron is, most can not guard point-guards or shooting-guards, not as good help defenders, not as good man-to-man defenders at all, not as good chase down blockers, not as good defensive orchestrators and they dont ever lead the league in Defensive WinShares for that reason.

Only Ron Artest & arguably Kirilenko were just as good or better on the ball defenders than Lebron was, but once again only against SF's basically. But today? Not anymore, Ron Artest especially is not even close the defender he was, same goes for Kirilenko more or less.

Excellent man-to-man defenders, but not even close to as versatile - allround defenders as Lebron is.

Neither of those players in your list could shut down the fastest player in the NBA and the best PG in the NBA in a 7 game series.

You do honestly think its a "myth"? You honestly dont believe something which 100% of the experts, coaches and so on believe?

shawn marion guards all 5 positions. he guarded dirk better than anyone in the nba.

i'm shocked he's never made the all nba defensive team. it's an insult to compare lebron to him on defense.

DeShawns best game against Miami offensively was a 11 point game on 3-7 shooting. Is that really shitting on him or anyone else on the Heat? No.

Marion averaged almost 14 PPG. Once again, not shitting on anyone.

George is the Pacers rookie who locked down Rose in our playoff series. He didnt guard him in game one (when he scored like 39), but the last 4 games he did and Rose averaged like 22 on 34% shooting. Lebron guards Rose for two minutes and ESPN ejaculates. George locks down Rose for 4 games and no one cares

Gallo is a pretty solid defender. More consistent and better man defender than LBJ

Ah thanks. yeah it is pretty hilarious. lebron guards a guy with 2 help defenders and suddenly he's the Second Coming.

Those guys never take guys off the dribble and in the Finals theres highlights after highlights of Marion taking lebron off the dribble. i'd consider that to be shitting on him.

Yeah, because role players who take less than 8 shots a game are going to average 20+

THIS. The fact they had career nights (who remembers deshawn stealing a bad pass from lebron then busting a 3 in his face) is testament to lebron being a below average defender.

OP - you have about 5 ball's that are valid defenders....

but your list over all sucks.

--------------------
You have a point Lebron didn't show up the last 4 games of the finals not only offensively but also defensively ...
Mentally he was lost.... I'd say he didn't have heart , but Pauk would diss me.

So Lebron is going to have alot of fans watch him this year to prove his elite'ness not only on crunch time , but his over all game when the going gets rough.

he is one of the few players in league history that will run down a player on a fast break , and block the shoot.

like at the end of game 2 when he let marion back tap it to kidd and sat there while dallas ran a 3 on 1 fast break on chris bosh?

lebron is overrated as hell. he does nothing that no one else does, but the one time he does something impressive it gets bloated by espn ad nauseum
