Default Who is the Biggest coaching bonehead in the NFL?

Head coach, coordinator, etc.

I can't help but nominate Lovie Smith. If the league did a percentage calculation of challenges made versus challenges won, he has to have the worst success rate by a mile. The guy throws flags when the wind blows. Don't get me started on the decisions to go for it on 4th down, even though the Bears have one of the worst OL's in the league.

I could go on and on about his screwups

Yeah Lovie Smith obviously sucks. He has had no success with the Bears.

Come on. He's bad at challenges but not that dumb.

All coaches make bonehead plays. Reid in philly with his 60/40 pass to run of short down to go. Even Belichick has made real risky and questionable moves in the past few seasons (4th and 2). Ryan with his bad timing trick plays. TB with their gadget plays. Garrett and his soft plays in Dallas. Sparano not challenging plays.

Not sure who is the worst though.

I didn't say he sucks. I'm making point that he makes a bunch of mind boggling bad decisions.

And the implication of that is that he's a bad coach. Good coaches don't make a "bunch of mind boggling bad decisions."

Lovie wouldn't last one offseason without getting another Head Coaching job. I don't like the cover-2 defense but his overall record is pretty good.

He's making the most out of an aging defense and a shitworthy group of offensive talent outside of Cutler/Forte.
