MSNBC said they expect to show people the execution in the upcoming hours. I can't watch that sh*t though.

Exactly why people don't pick up on this is disturbing. Saddam kills THOUSANDS of kurdish people with weapons SUPPLIED BY THE US GOVERNMENT. But this goes unnoticed. Saddam was just a puppet for the US who the CIA put in place when helped to overthrow the previous government. Now when Saddam says no I won't be your puppet to the US they go after him.

is it possible this was arranged so that saddam wouldn't have a platform to discuss how his more heinous, genocide-like actions were accomplished with the help of chemical weapons supplied by the U.S. under Reagan?

anyways, he deserved death.

From Wiki
Quote:
Saddam's youth
Saddam was shot in the leg, but escaped to Tikrit with the help of CIA and Egyptian intelligence agents. Saddam then crossed into Syria and was transferred to Beirut for a brief CIA training course. From there he moved to Cairo where he made frequent visits to the American embassy. During this time the CIA placed him in an upper-class apartment observed by CIA and Egyptian operatives. (UPI 'analysis' article)

The overthrow of the Iraqi government
the CIA gave assistance to the Ba'ath Party and other regime opponents.[8] Army officers with ties to the Ba'ath Party overthrew Qassim in a coup in 1963.

Western supplied chemical weapons
During the war, Iraq used Western supplied chemical weapons against Iranian forces fighting on the southern front and Kurdish separatists who were attempting to open up a northern front in Iraq with the help of Iran.[13]

SO BLAME THE GOVERNMENT PEOPLE, SADDAM IS JUST A PUPPET

World politics for the past 40 years or so has just been a danse macabre coreographed by the USA. But hey, what can we do about it, or do we even care.

And in my mind, no kind of buffalo wings are ever worth 7 bucks.

Uh, no. The CIA supported Saddam when he was trying to overthrow the communists. He certainly wasn't a puppet of the CIA. They merely had a common interest. The Reagan administration supplied the chemical weapons to Saddam because they had already given weapons to Iran. It was not so that Saddam could brutally kill Kurds, it was so he could brutally kill Iranian soldiers. Sddam was not a puppet of anyone.

Wiki might not be reliable but you can generally look at the sources cited and decide if they are legitimate or not.

The information is correct. The conclusions he drew from them were not.

I think one reason that they tried Saddam for the Shi'a murders is because there is more direct proof linking Saddam. There were some (including some in the US Government) that had tried to blame Iran for gassing the Kurds. It would be a stickier case to prosecute (although I'm sure Saddam would have been convicted).
