They don't need him. They need a possession receiver. They have Knox and Hester already.
Earl Bennett is that dude. His stats in the games with Cutler were very good.
With that said, I wouldn't mind Jackson even if he is a punk. We god speed at WR with Knox and Hester and a PR in Hester so he would just have to focus on sharpening his WR skills.
I don't really watch much of the Eagles, or Desean Jackson, but that penalty he got last week for the excessive celebration after hauling in a big pass told me everything I needed to know about the guy.
He's not a bad guy or anything. Believe it or not...Shady McCoy is more immature and has more growing to do off the field than DeSean. Nothing criminal, just teenage-minded. That extension situation could end up being worse.
Like GOBB said, his play doesn't have to do with the contract extension. He's still beating guys deep regularly and if half those balls aren't underthrown his numbers look closer to past years.
He's a guy that adds an insane aspect to an offense and is explosive anytime he catches the ball. But he's a guy you can live without too.
New England would never sign him. And besides, he wouldn't be happy here. Brady spreads it around too much and sometimes focuses on his tight ends too much for DeSean to get his targets. If he were in NE right now he'd have already complained to the media that Gronk has 11 scores. "Why ain't you passing it to your #1?"
Pats could use a tall fast jumpball receiver but the defense is what really needs work. Jackson would improve the return game a lot but that would be the only noticeable difference. This is already a great pass attack with plenty of short quick guys.

ESPN First Take just did a whole segment on DeSean taking plays off last night......complete with video replays of him jogging on routes. Skip Bayless described one play where Riley Cooper was the primary deep target and DeSean was the secondary crossing target and Jackson just walked the route.....Bayless somewhat defended him because Philly has not given him an extension.....I don't think Belichick would keep him around very long......
Where's Andy Reid in all of this? He should bench him for a game or two. He doesn't deserve playing time at this point. All his targets should be going to Celek or Shady.
