Default Rashard Lewis and Baron Davis are being monitored by Lakers

Quote:
The Lakers are curious to see if veteran point guard Baron Davis gets cut by Cleveland. He has two years and $28.7 million left on his contract, though he can be signed for substantially less than that. The Lakers also want a shooter and are monitoring whether forward Rashard Lewis (two years, $43.8 million remaining) gets waived by Washington

Baron Davis
Kobe Bryant
Ron Artest
Pau Gasol
Andrew Bynum

or

Steve Blake
Kobe Bryant
Rashard Lewis
Pau Gasol
Andrew Bynum

maybe both

Baron Davis
Kobe Bryant

They need solid point guard play and shooting.

Makes sense. But if Rashard gets amnestied, thats a hell of a lot of money his old team are gunna have to pay him for doing nothing. Damn!

Baron Davis in LA -ever again- would be a total disaster. For the Lakers' sake, they would be wise to look elsewhere.

Rashard Lewis would be so perfect at small forward for them. All the wide open threes he would get. Baron would also be a good fit. I can see this working IF if happens.

with Artest, Barnes and Odom (add Walton if you want), they should target a PG and not a SF

if a player gets amnestied, (very likely in lewis' case, if not guaranteed), then the team that picks him up, offers him a whole new deal, it can be for any value.

if the wiz amnesty him, the lakers can sign him for like 4 millions a year.

he would be a really nice pick up. davis could work well off of the bench. bynum and gasol are both really good as the pick man, in the pick and roll, davis could work great with either of them. if hes in shape of course.

Shard would be an awesome pickup. We lack perimeter shooting badly, and he'd bring that much more size to the team.

Get it done, Mitch.

It's worthless to have size when he does nothing with it. He's a perimeter player. You think someone who gets Andre Bargani is going to say "He brings size to the team?" when the the seven foot bastard averages like 5 rebounds per game?

Valid point, but the versatility that he brings to play either the 3 or 4 would be a better fallback option than what we have now if one of our bigs (Bynum/Gasol/Odom) gets injured. And with Bynum's history...

But yeah, the main reason that he'd be an asset is definitely his shooting. The best perimeter shooter that the Lakers have had in years was probably Radmanovic so it'll be nice to see how they can utilize an actual catch-and-shoot guy.

So, only two years of Artest and they're already looking to upgrade to another SF with questionable motivation?

I understand the upgrade from Fisher at PG, but do you really want to chance it with a guy like BD? Mike Brown isn't going to be able to micro-manage all of these temperaments and personalities.

He couldn't micro-manage one personality. Except the fact he catered to it basically saying "Go out there and pound the ball for 15-20 seconds with limited passing and we will win."

You're the one who needs help.

But yeah, Lakers management should stop looking for ways to improve the team just because Kobe currently has all the help he needs.

Get Kirk Hinrich and possibly a pure shooter who is able to take wide open down. Dump one of Barnes or Artest. Kinda overlapped.
