I decided to make this thread specifically about the My player mode of this year's NBA 2k11 so that we can trade ideas/comments and such.
-Box out, get back on d in transition, set picks, and contest shots (it all helps your grade)
-cut out any extra button mashing...you get penalized for it
-Complete some Jordan moments and wear the shoes to boost your ratings
I got drafted by the Grizz first round as a 6'7" PG out of DePaul (Ben Wilson)....so far so good...but it doesn't look like I will win ROY.....13 games in and I'm still rated 48 and I haven't cracked the starting lineup.
My player is a 6'8 SG 3-PT specialist. I'm doing the summerleague and I think he's got 86 3PT rating and maybe a 45 overall rating? Anyways, it's hard as hell to score. I pretty much camp out at the 3 point line when I'm not setting screens or hitting the boards. It's easy to get a high team rating but I can't force a turnover on my guy to save my life. Did get drafted by the Magic so I should get some decent looks with Howard in the paint kicking it out to me
The taller you are for your position, the fewer performance points you get. A 6-7 pg basically gets shit.
I haven't played the 2k11 Mode but in 2k10 I'd have my length at 6'7 as well (point guard) and just grabbed 15 rebounds a game and blocked 2-3 shots. This way I had better stats and I got near the amount of skill points I would get as a 6'2-6'3 PG.
6'4 PG here. Did 10 min quarters, averaged 19/9/12 with 2 steals & 1.5 blocks a game. Main thing that kept my draft position down was my turnovers, as I kept ****ing up fast breaks by forgetting to icon lead pass.
I was predicted to go at 16 to Timberwolves in the mocks, but dropped to OKC at 18. I was aiming for Grizzlies at 12 (which is where I was predicted to land after one game) but my turnovers over the next couple games saw my position drop. Hopefully I'll be able to get some minutes backing up Westbrook!
