I think either Hill becomes our 6th man or Feilds is about to get packaged in some kind of deal.

Fields isn't going anywhere so fast. But he still needs more experience and work on parts of his game. Fields is clearly still in D'Antoni's rotation.

As usual with minimum deals, no risk and lots of rewards to be reaped here. Guys like Billups and Hill are very important to the locker room.

So rotation:

Billups/Douglas
Hill/Shumpert and Douglas (they'll probably play equal time here)
Melo/Fields/Walker
Amare/Jeffries
Turiaf/Jeffries and Amare, maybe Jordan

I think the best way to build a team is the right combination of youth and experience. This is a step in the right direction. We had a very young bench and backcourt (besides Billups) and this would help balance it out. Now the key is adding a good veteran big man.

I actually thought Douglas should've been traded at the draft after we got Shumpert because we have other needs, this only cements that belief (assuming Hill comes and plays mostly SG). I think the best thing to do right now would be to try and trade Douglas for the best possible big (Robin Lopez? Jason Thompson?) and maybe sign a veteran back up PG like Arroyo to hold the back up spot until Shumpert is ready.

You're not getting those bigs for Douglas. TheKnicks would have done that trade a long time ago if it was possible.

I would love to get a big like Robin Lopez but no way are they trading a big man on a rookie contract for a Douglas. Maybe not even for Frieds.

I mean this signing is meh. The Knicks should be playing their young guys to build some trade value and see if they can find any takers. They're not contending anyways so why not get the youngins some experience? One thing the Knicks absolutely have to do is sign a 1 year mle player that can be used in a trade later on in the year. They should target Troy Murphy, someone who could build his trade value in their upt empo offense. Either way they still need a defensive vet min center like Pryzbilla or Foster

He hasn't signed yet, sources say that he's still pondering whether to sign with the Suns, Knicks, Spurs, or Bulls.

Would be a nice pickup. He's still solid and can hit the outside shot, gives them a much needed perimeter defender. They should focus on getting a vet min center now.

You have 2 weeks till the season starts. You are not signing young guys to try to learn a complicated system in that short period of time. Its asinine to think thats even possible. The Knicks need find older veterans for the short campaign, 1 year deals to preserve what little cap space we have and hope some of the young kids on the team shows something so they could be traded. The Knicks are playoff contenders whether you like it or not.
