International players don't have to take these tests?

Yes. Sergio Rodriguez, for example, has been doing workouts during the playoffs.

No one has to take the tests. It is not a compulsory thing to enter the draft.

There were some potential 1st rounders missing (e.g. Douby, and most of the european prospects). Bargnani, for example, was still playing in the Italian playoffs when the tests took place.

These tests can tell a lot about the prospects, but here is a good article explaining why you shouldn't pay too much attention to them:
http://www.draftexpress.com/viewarticle.php?a=1351

A couple of extracts from the article:
- The top athlete of the 2003 draft wasn't Lebron or Wade, it was Troy Bell. Brandon Hunter was second, while Chris Bosh was 51st.

-Also in 2003 tests, Chris Kaman was measured to have better foot speed than T.J. Ford

-In 2004 the top athlete was Kirk Snyder. Iguodala recorded the same vertical jump as Redick this year.

- Last year GS's Monta Ellis was ranked the worst athlete, coming out slow, weak and little leaping ability.

-Also last year, Chris Paul was slower than Wayne Simien and Sean May.

So do not make too many conclusions based on the results.

Still interesting to see the results.

If a player has amazing hops, why would'nt that show up (Igudola, Ellis) ?

Those tests don't matter that much. It's like the NFL Combine, you have to look at them and put them in consideration, but not draft based on them. Plus anyone who watches basketball know the top athletes in the draft are Rudy Gay, Shannon Brown, Tyrus Thomas, Rajon Rondo and Rodney Carney.

It is interesting to see how athletic some of the lesser known players are.

And if you combine these results with general talent it gives you a good idea of what the player is capable of.

If you have the physical tools but are unpolished, nba coaches can turn you into a decent player

David Noel was the most athletic player I never knew about for a while.

Marcus Williams proves that you can be fast without being able to jump (he has a 28 inch max verticle off a running start).

Well actually he isn't fast, he just isn't horribly slow.

Edit: Darius Washington has a 37.5 max verticle.

I think Darius Washington Jr. will be the next Gilbert Arenas. Both were advised to go back to school, both will be taken in the second round, both are not "true points", and both can score at will. Whoever gets Darius is getting a steal because if he stayed untill his senior year, he would have been a top ten pick.

You have to be kidding me Darius Washington Jr. has no where near the scoring ability of Gibert Arenas.
