Default ITT: We predict the 2011 NFL playoff seedings

3 weeks/games left before the regular season is over.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/machine

The link I posted is a good tool to help determine who you guys think will make the playoffs and how they will all be seeded.

This was my final result from the playoff machine on ESPN.

Index: From left to right

Seed - Team name - Final Record - Remaining Schedule - summary

AFC:

1. Texans (13-3) - (Panthers, Colts, Titans) - will win all
2. Steelers (13-3) - (49ers, Rams, Browns) - will win all
3. Patriots (12-4) - (Broncos, Dolphins, Bills) - will only lose to Denver
4. Broncos (11-5) - (Patriots, Bills, Chiefs) - will win all
5. Ravens (11-5) - (Chargers, Browns, Bengals) - will only win against Browns
6. Bengals - (10-6) - (Rams, Cardinals, Ravens) - will win all

Missed it

Jets (9-7) - (Eagles, Giants, Dolphins) - Will lose to Giants and Eagles.
Titans (9-7) - (Colts, Jaguars, Texans) - Will only lose to Texans

NFC:

1. Packers (16-0) - (Chiefs, Bears, Lions) - Will win all
2. Saints (13-3) - (Vikings, Falcons, Panthers) - Will win all
3. 49ers (12-4) - (Steelers, Seahawks, Rams) - will only lose to Pittsburgh
4. Giants (10-6) - (Redskins, Jets, Cowboys) - Will win all
5. Falcons (10-6) - (Jaguars, Saints, Bucs) - Will only lose to Saints
6. Lions (10-6) - (Raiders, Chargers, Packers) - Will only lose to Packers

Missed it

Cowboys (9-7) - (Bucs, Eagles, Giants) - Will only lose to the Giants.

-The Giants-Jets game on Week 16 will determine a lot. I have the Giants winning that game and because of that the Bengals end up getting the 6th seed in the AFC. If the Jets win that game then I think the Giants still make the playoffs but the Jets become the 6th seed in the AFC.

-Cowboys will miss the playoffs. I think the loss of DeMarco Murray is huge for them, so huge in fact that they will miss the playoffs because of it. I have the Cowboys winning their next two games but losing the last. I have them winning against the Bucs this week and the Eagles on Week 16 but I have them losing to Giants in Week 17. It wouldn't surprise me if the Cowboys end up winning their division and making the playoff sinstead. But if I had to bet on the Giants or Cowboys winning the division, I would bet on the Giants. The Giants can afford to lose against the Jets and still win the division. The Giants cannot afford to lose to the Redskins this week though but I don't expect that to happen.

-Steelers, Texans, Patriots, and Ravens will fight for playoff seedings on week 17. At the end I think those four teams specifically those first three (Steelers, Texans, Patriots) will actually go all out on Week 17 in order to get the seeds they want. That is why I think the Titans miss out on the playoffs because I think the Texans will actually go all out in order to secure a 1st round bye and Homefield. The Steelers are easily going to win that week 17 game and the same goes for the Patriots. If the Texans do decide to sit out their starters and not really go all out, then they will go from being a #1 or #2 seed to being a #3 seed.

Default Re: ITT: We predict the 2011 NFL playoff seedings

I really like your format, so I think I will copy that, if you don't mind...

AFC:

1. Baltimore Ravens (13-3) - (Chargers, Browns, Bengals) - Will win out
2. New England Patriots (13-3) - (Broncos, Dolphins, Bills) - Will win out
3. Houston Texans (13-3) - (Panthers, Colts, Titans) - Will win out
4. Denver Broncos (10-6) - (Patriots, Bills, Chiefs) - Will only lose to Patriots
5. Pittsburgh Steelers (13-3) - (49ers, Rams, Browns) - Will win out
6. Oakland Raiders (9-7) - (Lions, Chiefs, Chargers) - Will only lose to Lions

Those who missed out:

Cincinnati Bengals - (9-7) - (Rams, Cardinals, Ravens) - will only lose to Ravens
Tennessee Titans (9-7) - (Colts, Jaguars, Texans) - Will lose to Texans in Week 17
New York Jets (8-8) - (Eagles, Giants, Dolphins) - Will lose all

Notes:

-I have the Ravens, Patriots, Texans and Steelers all winning out, leaving it up to tiebreakers to determine their seedings; Baltimore gets #1 based on head-to-head (over Pittsburgh) and strength of victory (over Houston, New England). The Patriots get the #2 seed over Houston by strength of victory as well (partly because Houston plays 0-16 Indy twice as much )

-Oakland steals the #6 seed from Tennessee and Cincinnati based on strength of victory and intra-conference record, respectively

-The Jets collapse and lose their final 3 games

NFC:

1. Green Bay Packers (16-0) - (Chiefs, Bears, Lions) - Will go undefeated
2. San Francisco 49ers (12-4) - (Steelers, Seahawks, Rams) - will only lose to Steelers
3. New Orleans Saints (12-4) - (Vikings, Falcons, Panthers) - Panthers upset them @ home in Week 17
4. New York Giants (10-6) - (Redskins, Jets, Cowboys) - Will win out
5. Atlanta Falcons (10-6) - (Jaguars, Saints, Bucs) - Will only lose to Saints
6. Detroit Lions (10-6) - (Raiders, Chargers, Packers) - Will only lose to Packers

Those who missed out:

Philadelphia Eagles (8-8) - (Jets, Cowboys, Redskins) - Will win out
Dallas Cowboys (8-8) - (Bucs, Eagles, Giants) - Will only beat the Bucs
Seattle Seahawks (8-8) (Bears, 49ers, Cardinals) - Will only lose to the 49ers

Notes:

- San Francisco gets the #2 seed over New Orleans thanks to their superior intra-conference record

-Detroit get stuck with the #6 seed because of their head-to-head loss to Atlanta, who take the #5 seed

-Dallas beats Tampa, but becomes one-dimensional without DeMarco Murray, losing their final 2 games to Philly and the Giants

-Philly rallies to win their final 3 games, but it is too little, too late, as the Giants win out as well to snuff what little hope they had to make the playoffs

Bengals will beat the Ravens IMO because the Ravens will be away for that game. Ravens do not perform that well on the road, not to mention the Bengals almost won their last meeting earlier this season at Baltimore.

Bengals will get the 6th seed IMO.
