Hank just so you know you got me to draft Cole in my fantasy draft. I mean it was like #213 or something but I never would have taken him if it weren't for you. If he plays 6 minutes on XMas I am going to neg every damn "OMG Cole is the godz" post you made.

And you can be sure that his PnR stats are completely immaterial because on a team with LBJ and Wade he isn't going to run it ever.

Shumpert, arguably has the best work ethic out of all the rookies. This kid wants to be a star.

That's hilarious. The following is coming from your neck of the woods in Knickerbonker-ville

http://theknickswall.com/2011/06/23/...e-norris-cole/

-"Scouts have raved about Norris’ tremendous basketball IQ, drive, and work ethic"

-"He really is everything the Knicks need"

And-

-"DeSimpelare describes Cole as one of the most competitive players he has ever worked with"

-“Spend 45 minutes to an hour with him and you’ll be in love with him,” exclaims DeSimpelare. “He is almost like the perfect kid and I’m not talking about the perfect player. I’m talking about the perfect kid…He gets on that floor and has a dogmatic will to beat you.”

- If you really studied him and see all that he's been through and done from year to year, on top of his maturity, high basketball IQ and tremendous leadership qualities, Hard to find a college kid who has a better work ethic than Cole.

I agree with Doug Gottlieb who went on ESPN after the draft and said that in six years we will probably look back and say that Norris Cole was one of the best players in this draft.

From midrange he is lights out.

Cole was the best midrange shooter of any guard in the draft. He is automatic from 12-17 feet and excellent at creating his own shot. He is also an 84% free throw shooter... which is good for a player that has game and gets fouled often like Cole.

He was around 37% or 36% from 3-point land in college but the Heat coaching staff asked him to work heavily on his 3-ball this summer (as Cole has stated). And he did just that being the tireless worker he is.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3hRvTBzNcM

Here is an excerpt of his midrange game-

-- "Conversely Cole has shown off Tony Parker-like skills at his workouts with his ability to get to the hoop complementing his strong mid-range game. His pull-up is as good as any other guard’s in this draft class and Cole employs an extremely quick first step to create space.

“He may have the best mid-range game coming out of college,” says DeSimpelare. “He’s deadly from 17-feet to 12-feet.”

Usually, the midrange skills are the last developed by a young player. That he has such a refined game now is a great sign of development for an NBA organization".

He said Shumbert is complete garbage too and a terrible pick. I haven't seen enough to rep him to death like you are with COle after two minutes of watching him, but he does not suck. Gottlieb is a tool btw.

Although Norris Cole is very good at splitting a defense and getting in the paint (and excellent at passing off it with great awareness and vision)... Let's expound on Norris Cole's fantastic midrange game that is already elite and pro ready. The importance of the midrange shot (from Pro Basktball Talk):

"The mid-range game is becoming a bit of a lost art in the NBA, and for good reason: according to Hoopdata.com, NBA players make 64% of their shots at the rim and 36.2% of their threes (which translates to an eFG% of 54.3%), but only make 38.4% of their shots from 10-15 feet and 39.7% of their shots from 16-23 feet.

Given how big and athletic most NBA players are nowadays, it’s almost always more efficient to get a shot at the rim or an open three-pointer than it is to settle for a mid-range jumper, but the mid-range game does serve a purpose.

Mid-range jumpers are the easiest shots to get off, they don’t lead to turnovers, they keep the defense honest, and they can open up driving lanes or free up three-point shooters. If the mid-range game is used correctly, it can be just as overwhelming to a defense as a punishing interior game or a barrage of threes, and some of the NBA’s best offenses still rely on mid-range jumpers to keep the defense off balance.

There you have it"

This is a stupid argument. Why compare one player who's going to make a bigger contribution to another player who won't?

For the record, Iman Shumpert. Norris Cole won't be able to run the offense as long as LeBron is in the game.

stupid argument.

1) there's a reason why LeBron hasn't been carrying the ball upcourt in the scrimmages, practices and the preseason. Because he's going to be working around the paint area and down low a lot more this season (why he worked on his post-game all summer as the Heat told him to)

2) Even with that, the Heat had heavy use of point guards last year AND LEBRON WILL BE CARRYING THE BALL ALOT LESS THIS YEAR:

a) Mike Bibby played over 1000 minutes for the Heat last year (reg season + playoffs)

b) Carlos Arroyo played about 1000 minutes (994 to be exact) for the Heat last year in the regular season

c) Mario Chalmers played over 2000 minutes for the Heat last year.

Norris Cole will be seeing plenty, PLENTY of minutes this year and running the offense. You just have no clue what you're talking about.

"Miami Heat rookie Norris Cole has a chance to earn heavy minutes at point guard"

Take a look at this sick pass at 0:56 and Wade and the boys can't stop loving this guy:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvtfUN6zG1E

Could have easily had double-digit assists there if people made some very easy baskets. This guy makes such passes constantly and they're precision pinpoint laser passes, and does it on the fly without even thinking, that's how mature his game is. This guy is going to be awesome for us in so many ways, from his deadly passing and elite vision opening people up, he's excellent at giving the ball to teammates at their "sweet spots"... he was the best pick & roll PG in the draft and will be fantastic there for us as we run it often, to him greatly augmenting our transition game. He's going to make the Miami Heat better in so many areas.

The Heat went to the Cole-mine and struck a GOLD-MINE !!
