I don't think AD has a good shot at it, but he is every bit as important to the Vikes as elite QBs are to thier teams...
Re: Adrian Peterson tears ACL, needs reconstructive surgery
Barry had to run primarily out of single back sets for most of his career. He normally had to break 2-3 tackles just to get to the line of scrimmage. AD couldn't do what he's doing now without the blockers he has.
When Barry finally got an offense with a full time fullback, he ran for 2000 yards and had 14 straight 100 yard games.
Re: Adrian Peterson tears ACL, needs reconstructive surgery
Peterson is the best in the league at getting yards after contact and is on pace to get over 1,000 yards after contact this season alone. So although its impossible to say that he can or can't replicate what Barry did with the same line he certainly has the pyhsical tools to do so.
Re: Adrian Peterson tears ACL, needs reconstructive surgery
They would be nothing without Peterson....yet Gearhardt came in for him last year and put up the same production.
Goes to show how a great running back can have an all-time great season, yet his team might not even finish above .500.....the impact just isn't there when compared to great quarterbacks.
When's the last time a quarterback had an all-time great season and didn't make the playoffs? I honestly can't remember.

uh "Gerhart" is fckin DOO DOO compared to AD...and he wouldn't have close to 2,000 yds this year if he was the every down RB
and it is difficult to have an amzing year as a QB and miss the playoffs, true...but that has NOTHING to do with AD's value to the Vikes this year...NOTHING
