Torn MCL confirmed

Kevin Smith from the Lions is having a bit of a career resurgence after a torn ACL. But, he was 22 when he tore it and it took almost a full 2 years for him to be effective again. Plus, he didn't have a torn MCL with it to complicate things.

I had a teammate that tore his ACL/MCL(or something like that) and he would always have knee issues after coming back. But it didn't stop him and he was still able to squat a shit ton after..

This will definitely take a toll on his running style and I don't think he'd be able to do those quick cuts and jukes any more.. I remeber Garrison Hearst having a freakish injury and he wasn't able to play for like 2 years, I was too young to fully recall.

Yes, Terrell Davis tore both his ACL and MCL in 1999, he retired in 2002 during the preseason. He was never the same.

Peterson is from another planet...he seriously shouldn't be compared to other players.

"All Day" was an earned nickname...he has come back from smashed collar bones and other things just fine.

But smashed collarbones couldn't have less to do with torn MCL/ACL. That's like saying he came back from a broken heart.

Okay, I've done a lot of reading up on this now...let me throw a couple things out there not said in here...

1. ACL surgery has come A VERY LONG WAY since just a decade ago. For instance, Welker tore his ACL and was back right away.

2. It us being said that Peterson does infact have age on his side here...all of acting as though 26 is old are just wrong. He is 26, not 36.

3. He may miss some of next year, and might not be able to cut right when he does return, however it is very likely he can go back to 100% eventually. McNabb tore his ACL and did get back to 100% after a couple years.

It's not just the ACL though its the MCL as well as the ACL. I'm not sure how much more troublesome that is, but it certainly can't help especially if its what Terrell Davis had.

From what i have read ACL surgery is on a whole different level than what it was in TD's day...
